For me, this image was one of those iconic images of the working class. Reminiscent of Lewis Hine's "Power House Mechanic" from 1920, this image works so well with the recurring shapes, and the asymmetry created by the right-most coal stack spilling from his compartment, all framing the iconic, lean and muscular working man.
