Thai Buddhist people gather with candles, lotus flowers and joss sticks around a giant Buddha statue during Makha Bucha Day celebrations at the Buddhamonthon, Nakhon Pathom province, 56km (35 miles) from Bangkok, Thailand, 21 February 2008. The Candle Light Procession is held to mark Makha Bucha Day, a day in remembrance of an event when the lord Buddha gave a sermon on the essence of Buddhism.

This image didn't make the cut for The Week in Pictures this week because the blur motion didn't sit well with the editors. But technique aside, I find it fun to look at because of the vivid color, the shapes of the waving lines and seeing where the lines stop and start because of the movement of the procession.
