A Japanese businessman stands in the foyer of a modern office building in downtown Tokyo August 2, 2008. In the aftermath of the US subprime loan crisis, Japanese banks have become reluctant to lend money for real estate projects.

This is one of those trompe l'oeil (trick of the eye) photos that works on many levels. The floor is so highly polished that the businessman looks a bit like he is walking on water, perhaps in a swimming pool. On a more abstract level, it seems to suggest something about our increasingly uncertain economic times.
