Barry Delainey, center, attends the funeral of his best friend, Private Kevin Elliott, killed recently in Afghanistan. Delainey, a civilian, and Elliott had a pact that when one of them died the other would attend the funeral wearing a dress.

There's an unusual tension created in this picture by the obvious sadness of this young man at the loss of his friend, and the absurdity of the dress he promised to wear at the funeral.
