They are two of three remaining women with bound feet in a village where the practice was once common. These women are the last reminder of a tradition that was intended as a status symbol, and a key to the women's chances of marrying into wealth.

Foot binding, which involved deforming or even breaking the bones of the feet, was practiced in China for over 1,000 years. What do you think of this practice dying out?
