Boaters make their way along the edge of the oil slick about a quarter mile from the east shore of the Chandeleur Islands, La., on May 5, 2010. Since the April 20th BP offshore oil rig accident hundreds of thousands of gallons of crude oil have been leaking from an underwater well about 40 miles off the coast.

Heartbreaking.
Dispersant schmershant. My opinion, and I could be wrong, is that BP wants to stall long enough to figure out a fail safe way to cap the well and continue to draw crude out of it.
Bankrolling profit.
Top Kill.
I will, if I might, add to the above comment by saying that in my opinion, I could be wrong, BP wants The Well to generate income to pay for itself, and the reason it's taking so long is that some mysterious machinery had to be fabricated and brought to The Gulf to do this job, and that is why so many ludicrous, sketchy attempts have been made to "stop the leak", that did not Stop the Leak.
Disreali Gears are turning.
