A boy waits for customers to sell popcorn to as evening sets in over Kabul, Afghanistan on Saturday, May 29, 2010.

Business is popping

What a strange and beautiful picture from a part of the world that we don't get to see this way very often.

SB - maybe the kids here can sell popcorn instead. And lemonade too. Popcorn always makes me thirsty.

Robert...Before the Soviets invaded the country it was a premiere travel destination for budget travellers. The Afghani people have always been known for their warm hospitality.

Lola, righty you are, and I think this would be a great time of night to set up a movie projector and show films; set the place up like a drive in-walk in theatre. Earl, it is true, in fact Kabul had some mighty fine hotels and restaurants before the devastation began.

All the customers are at the Mall, buying Western clothing....or running from suicide droners.

Wow, it's pretty cool that he has electricity and no one else in the neighborhood does.
