A view of the house where two people accused of spying for Russia lived in Montclair, NJ.

United States law enforcement broke up the alleged Russian spy ring after a decade-long probe, announcing the arrest of 10 "deep-cover" suspects accused of infiltrating policymaking and reporting back to Moscow.

Living in the spyburbs

As if living in the suburbs isn’t already weird enough, now we have to be on the lookout for soccer-mom spies. Thanks Russia.

I hate that term, 'Soccer-mom'. I'm not a fan of labels in general, but that one really bugs me.

Honey, do you have the keys to the encrypter?

I grew up in Orange County, California-at least from age 3 to 13....looking back, it was ten years of bizaro. Orange groves being mowed down and housing tracts sprouting as if The Jolly Green Giant cast seeds about to grow The Burbs of The Orange Curtain. Almost every family in our little tract in Tustin was military, and when someone new moved in that wasn't employed at The Base, suspicions arose, after all, it was The Cold War.

SPY REPORT - July 4 - Our subjects seem to have an interesting tradition of cooking meat outdoors over flames on this day. Vladimir and I are convinced that it is merely a cover for sending smoke signals which alert the others to our location. When that went unnoticed for hours, neighbors took a more aggressive approach by launching flares and rockets over the back yard. We will follow up with report aft... uh-oh.

Neat, a very 2 dimensional look.
