In this Oct. 21, 1957 file photo, Queen Elizabeth II addresses the General Assembly, as her husband Prince Philip, sits at left. The 84-year-old monarch was 31 years old when she last addressed the United Nations in 1957, four years after she was crowned queen.

The Height of Fashion.
What strikes me in this photo is the fashion of clothes Philip and Elizabeth are wearing. The Queen is done up in her best Pilgrim outfit, as if she just got off The Mayflower and Philip is wearing a suit, and probably a terrific bespoke affair fit for a King.
