An employee works on a mannequin at a Top Mannequin factory in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, July 10. The company, comprising of more than 100 workers, supplies 3,000 to 5,000 mannequins a year to the domestic market and for export to Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore.

Body shop

I wonder how many options are available if one was to buy a mannequin and how often models are updated. To me, mannequins are one of those things that most people see and don't think much about, but someone is putting a lot of thought into them somewhere.

Collectibles.

I have a friend who collects mannequins. They come in many varieties and the options are endless. There are eyeglass mannequins, lingerie mannequins, dress mannequins and many are, um, anatomically correct. They are expensive, but considering the cost of a date, my friend says these are cheap, because they don't talk, don't complain, don't shop and agree to everything a guy says.

I told my friend he needs to see Lars and the Real Girl soon, before it's too late.

Michael...Aren't You sounding a little sexist? I think you need to take a break! (JK) Don't forget this...We all came into this world alone...we walk this world alone...then we leave alone.

Not sexist at all earl. He didn't specify that his friend collects female mannequins.

I am surprised that this picture didn't score better in the voting. i think its a great picture! The manniquins look

real and lifelike, and the man building the other in the foreground is spaced right in the center of the others.

            photographically its a great picture.

It says that these mannequins are being made in Kuala Lumpur for the domestic market which I take to mean Malaysia. Why do all the visible mannequins have western European facial features?

I agree Lucinda, this is a great shot and I think it deserved to be in WIP. I however, voted for The Shark. I often try to pick what others will find a pleasing photo when I vote in WIP. But, I also vote on my own, for what I feel is the most powerful picture, best composition, creative adaption, etc. It's silly, but I vote with the herd, when really should not. So many great issues and such portrayed here......oh, and great eye Helen, it's true, these are very Euro in looks.

Again...the timing required to catch that shark breaching with the seal. Superb. And I'm not biased. Not at all.

                  Well. Maybe a little.
