Police help a woman who fell from a stairsase as panic broke out during the Love Parade in Duisburg, Germany, on July 24, 2010. At least 19 people were killed and more than 300 were injured in a mass panic during the event.

I was trapped in something similar at Cal Jam II, and it is a helpless feeling when ones feet lose contact with the earth and one is resigned to move with the will of the crowd, like so much wheat in a field. I got in a "current" between a fire truck and a fence that lifted me off the ground and moved me about fifty feet ahead of the others I was with who were on the other side of that fire truck; it took me hours to find them.
