Containers fall from the deck of the damaged cargo ship MSC Chitra in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Mumbai, India on Monday, Aug. 9. This is disasterous. So much trash and garbage we are dumping everywhere. We have no respect for this planet or our lives. I wonder how long before we are extinct. Probably pretty soon if you put time in perspective. Men and greed and destruction seem to go hand in hand

Have you been to India? The place is a dump. Have you seen slumdog millionaire?

Geez, it wasn't like a garbage scow left out of New York Harbor to dump a load - pardon the imagery - somewhere in the Atlantic...it was an accident!

There Goes Bob's Discount Furniture... I'm sure Bob will blame Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Pelosi, Bob Dole, Terrell Owens, and the creators of South Park.

It's no one’s fault other than the operator of that ship. Those waters are packed with large ships going in and out of port all day. There is little room for error.

The Economy is not entirely a Democrats fault nor is it a Republicans. It is a change to a world economy along with Banks giving out loans to people who can’t afford one. So our answer was cash for you S#$% Box. I can go on all day but I need to make a living.

I'd hate to have to pay the freight claim on that!

Some salvage company with a dhow and a rope will pull those containers in. No worries !

How about a wicked good deal on a new Tata !! I must say I've always wondered how many of those containers fall off those ships on a regular basis?

just think what archaeologists will find a 1,000 years from now and think of our extinct civilization. The crap in those containers will define us and be put into a museum.

I guess we'll be seeing that cargo at TJ Maxx, Big Lots, and dollar discounters in a few weeks.

This is why captains and first mates shouldn't be dislexic.

"Starboard, I said starboard Gilligan", "I did Captain, but we headed right for that big container ship", "No Little Buddy, you went Port".

There goes the chairs, desks and headsets for another offshore "Customer Service Center".

Enjoyed the jokes folks, and to those of you who somehow turned a shipwreck blog into a political dem vs. rep. argument, you got a little off track. There are plenty of political blogs you can visit, and have a much more "meaningful fight".

I just hope all you folks spending your energy playing the blame (there's plenty on both ends) have some energy to be active in your own communities to make them a better place.

What does politic have to do with a shipping collision in the Arabian Sea? Can you people not find a political site on which to argue?

Ok. Is this really a story? I have yet to see even ONE mention about God, the Bible, and the end of the world in the comments. Come on people. I need something funny to read.

Why is it that when you send something by ship it is called "cargo" but when you send something on the ground it is called "shipment"?

I would say that listing is a bit of an understatatement. I think that we are talking sinking.

The question is what is the cargo? Most of the boxes will float to shore, where they will be picked up Although it was not an oil tanker , it did contain oil. Hence another enviroment problem
