I have to admit I really don't get bullfighting or the running of the bulls. I know it's a cultural thing. While tragic events like this make amazing video, they really should consider making those walls taller. Full story here.

A combination of pictures from video grabs shows a bull running toward and jumping into the stands during a 'recortadores' competition in Tafalla, Spain, August 18, 2010. At least 40 spectators were injured after the bull jumped into the stands during the competition, in which young boys run before the bull trying to avoid being caught.

A bull leaps out of the arena at a bullring in Tafalla near Pamplona, northern Spain on August 18, 2010, and charged into a crowd of terrified spectators.

I'm rooting for the bull. Barbaric "sport"; kinda like going to town to watch a hanging.
Go bulls!
Creating an entertainment spectacle based on animal suffering is SAVAGERY, and, it goes without saying, such SAVAGERY SHOULD BE OUTLAWED.
The Bull rightly defended itself from the cruelty perpetuated by this crowd of cheering IDIOTS. Disgusting!
Personally, I hope the bull takes out as many people as he can! REAL humans don't sit around watching an animals teased, injured & finally killed for sport. THE HUMAN ANIMAL IS THE ONLY MAMMAL THAT KILLS FOR SPORT!
If there were enough people like you we wouldn't have any entertainment, but since you said you hope the bull takes out as many people as he can!" lets throw you in the arena with the bull the next time! or sit down, shut up, and have a coke and a smile!
LMAO, This is so funny! I bet there were some undies being tossed after this!
As with most of these type of responses I've seen here, you paint with a broad brush. Bull fighting doesn't even come close to most entertainment. At least with Boxing (which IMHO should be outlawed too) the participants are intelligent enough to make up their own minds. Or at the very least can say "NO!" Animals aren't given that luxury.
In the never ending insanity that is humankind, to get your jollies and feel superior we have Bull Fighting, dog fighting, cock fighting, rodeos, all to demonstrate man's superiority over the animal kingdom.
And if enough people were like YOU, we'd be having the "Dog Fighting" Channel, right next to the "Baby Seal Clubbing " Channel, I'm sure you'd have plenty of "entertainment" that way!
Maybe the OP sentiments are a bit much, I never would wish harm on any human being, no matter how stupid and insensitive they are, but it's REAL nice to imagine the animal getting the upper hand once in a while.
Did those spectators deserve to get hurt? No. But maybe by this incident, the powers that be will take another look at the injustices being done and start thinking that maybe we should NOT be screwing with Mother Nature like this!
Some people might say they're just animals, don't think etc, but the question is do they suffer? bleed? feel pain?
If people are there to support this, then maybe they should go through (suffering) it themselves.
Now if this were, where a human or animal hunts another animal because they need to eat that's all whole different ball game, and more understandable. The cycle of nature.
But this is applauded torture, in Spain and wherever else it's held.
I vote for the bull, Go Bull!!
Oh and my last comment was directed at Eric Maurice Ivy
But there seems to be some temporary issues with this web page and wouldn't let me edit my errors immediately after I posted.
Although you're mostly rigth Vicky, there are other mammals that hunt for sport. Wolves, for one.
People are a lot more important than bulls, but I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for these guys.
Bull fighting is animal cruelty and should be banned. I know it's part of the Spanish culture, but people need to evolve and know when to hang up traditions that involve torturing animals for entertainment purposes.
I agree. We need to do-away with Rodeos in this country. Then we'll have a leg to stand on when we tell the Spaniards that they need to outlaw bullfighting.
Agree Waltz. Many rodeo activities are inhumane for sure, but it's doesn't reach the level of cruelty that bull fighting does.
Well I see you point Walt but we don't kill our animals in Rodeos. Colorado we are trying to ban the Rodeo sport of tail pulling. Some of the rodeo events I'd like to end. I am from a ranch family too.
Bullfighting is disgusting. My mother dragged me to a bull fight in Spain when I was very young and even then I could figure out it was cruel. What are these people thinking?! We have to start treating animals better, they feel fear just like we do!
What part of a rodeo is cruel? Most of the events, except bull riding, are practical skills still used by ranchers today. Some of the animals are mistreated, yes, and the people doing it should be dealt with INDIVIDUALLY. It's like saying nobody should ever be allowed to own a pet because some people mistreat their pets.
Personally, I think boxing is more barbaric than bullfighting.
Calf roping and bull riding top my list, Jenn. I had a friend whose family went whenever one was held when I was young. During one calf roping contest, they broke the calf's legs while tying them. Why? Why is this fun to watch??? Also, when they grease up pigs and make kids chase them around while they're running scared. Pigs overheat easily and they are also susceptible to dislocating their joints. Again, why?
Calf roping is done on ranches in order to brand the calves. Yeah, sometimes things happen, but it's better than having your animals stolen. If all sports/events were banned because this one time someone got hurt, then we'd have nothing to do. It is never fun to watch the animal get hurt, or see a horse die in an event, or see a human get hurt or die playing a sport, but it happens. It's life. As far as the pigs go... That's fun for the kids chasing them. Pigs run on the farm, too, kinda like when your dog doesn't want to get caugt, or when your horse wants to stay outside a bit longer. Maybe I'm just some stupid country hick because I enjoy that stuff, but I can look at it and realize that hey, accidents happen, but that doesn't mean ending it altogether is the answer. Like I said, otherwise all we'd ever do it sit at home curled up hoping something bad didn't happen.
It's not like we are treating our cattles, dairy cows, chickens and pigs any better. Keep them in tight confinement while fatten them up. Pump them with full of antibiotics and steroids.
Yeah, lecturing a country high and mighty about animal cruelty while we are treating them worse in our country behind closed doors.
Besides..... Bull fighting is to Spain as UFC is to the United States. We rather see bunch of guys beat each other to a bloody pulp. Surprisingly that entertainment ratings been steadly rising ever year. I guess we are barbaric as the rest of the world.
Uh..yeah. You're blatantly condoning these things. I can't have the slightest bit of respect.
Had Enough. I agree with you about factory farming of food animals, but that's another topic. It needs changing, but it's not being done to entertain pathetic examples of human life.
To Steve and Enough
In boxing and ultimate fighting, both contestants are willing, and the match is decided by decision, knock out, or submission.
The bull is not a willing contestant and the match is decided by death.
Ah, the ultimate payback. Clue to spectators: don't wear red to a bullfight.
psst...bulls are colorblind...
Color is not a factor. It's the movement of anything that attracts them. The post that said they are colorblind
is probably correct.
Well I see you point Walt but we don't kill our animals in Rodeos. Colorado we are trying to ban the Rodeo sport of tail pulling. Some of the rodeo events I'd like to end. I am from a ranch family too.
Well colorblind or not they don't like red or whatever color they see it as. So yea people in the stands with red. If they use apples to beat me or tease me with I wouldn't like anyone that had apples.
Ah, bull fighting... Undoubtedly one of the very few sports where security need not worry about fans running out on to the field.....
ROFL!!! I laughed so HARD when I saw this video!!! The bulls are getting tired of this, excuse the expression, BS! The Bulls take the horns to the Spaniards! LOL! Leave the bulls alone and you won't have this problem, you ignorant azz greasers!
Of course the bull was killed and tortured. Madness and blood lust among the uncivilized. To hell with their culture, they are barbarians.
Yeah, screw culture. What a stupid thing to have. I mean, come on. Why should anyone hang onto their culture? Unless they're black or Native American or muslim, then they simply must and if we don't let them do whatever they want we're awful racists.
You seem like someone else who probably couldn't point Spain out on a map. You're judging a culture from one incident while seemingly knowing very little about it. The same thing happens when other people think of Americans as cowboys with guns looking to beat up Muslim people wearing jeans and drinking Coca-cola. Of course the culture is much more than that, but not to the ignorant and uneducated.
Agreed, Antonio
Thanks. I'm glad not everyone around here is completely closed to the possibility that perhaps a few photos don't tell the complete story of an entire culture.
It's hilarious to me because the same people will flip out about being 'racist' or not respecting cultures such as Muslims, Native Americans, or black people, yet they completely bash other cultures based on a couple of images.
It's sad, but it's the way it is. Hopefully people learn to think more before condemning others about whom they know very little, or nothing.
Culture? Tradition? These and other labels will never justify taking an animal in to an enclosed space so that it can be tormented and made to suffer for the purpose of providing entertainment. Look at the bull in those photos and then speak of culture and tradition.
Oh, you mean the bull that has blood on his horns? Damn, I feel soooo bad for him. My gosh, he may have issues now because he hurt people.
Unreal...Jenn? Honestly, you don't have a problem with animal torture as a form of entertainment? You blame the animal for bringing himself to the arena (I'm guessing you think these bulls volunteer for this), then trying to avoid being tortured, then attempting to escape. Wow! What a human you are. I've always said calling some people animals is insulting to animals.
All people are animals, thank you very much. I don't know where you got the rest of your comment, because I never said any of it. I never said the bull brought himself there, I never said I thought animals should be killed for entertainment. They certainly don't volunteer since they're, you know, bulls, and can't exactly do that. In case you weren't reading it, he wasn't being tortured. Some kids were running in front of him. I really doubt it was trying to escape, though I certainly won't speak for the bull. I'm actually amazed he jumped into the stands. Who knew a short legged stocky bull could jump that high? I am simply pointing out that even though the bull obviously has blood on his horns and was hurting people, everyone here is willing to cheer him on and say how horrible they feel for him, yet if, say, a man tortured and killed someone (like the people 'torturing' the bull), and he was in turn killed (like the people on this board want those people in the stands to be), everyone would throw a fit about how evil it is. When other animals are involved, people dying is okay.
Yes you did! You are lost dazed and confused. And a heartless hussy.
Is Antonio comparing Picasso to Bullfighting? Just another "cultural affect?"
I'm training some deer right now with bows & arrows and a deer rifle with scope.
There is one woman in the picture that doesn't seem fazed at all that there is a 1500 lb bull behind her. Now that's tough.
and 10 feet to her right is a guy blowing chunks...lol...Typical blonde...
Good eye(s), guys!!!
(I didn't see the one blowing chunks...thanks for "bringing that up!")
He probably got a hoof to the gut right before that picture was taken.
Clueless more likely..a smart person would at least make sure they knew where the bull went...clueless I say!
Good to see the bull try to give what he probably got later. Fan: 'Hey, we're all here to see Bernie the bull get slaughtered'. Bull: 'Now let's see how you like it bud!'
Viva Toro!
Too bad the bull didnt kill them all.
Bullfighting is on the same par and chicken and dog fighting and should be banned worldwide.
Interesting to compare bull fighting to two other things that involve two animals of the same species.
You're still here uttering unfathomable gibberish...go do your nails or something.
Ew, why would I want to do that?
Viva Espana!
Viva Estados Unidos tambien!
hahaha. this is great. when will these savages learn...
There are bullfights only a few miles from here because I live on the Texas - Mexico border. I've never been to a bullfight, but my uncle was thrown out of one once because he was rooting for the bull...
"Ole!'" screams the crowd........................then they just scream.
Perhaps hitting them hard in the old pocket book will let them know that this type of entertainment isn't what others consider "fun". Boycott tourism to Spain...there are lots of other wonderful countries to visit where animal torture isn't tolerated.
The bull just wants to be loved, is that so wrong?
I've got $5 on the bull...
Its a pathetic excuse for a man who can only show how macho he is by torturing a confined animal. What men...what losers.
Have you ever been around a bull? Seriously? Doing what matadors do takes guts, I don't care if you think it's torture or not. Yeah, the bull may die in the end, but it's not like the guy is out there with a gun and stands behind something to shoot it.
Safety first always....the wall should have been much higher......
look at the lady in the bottom right of the last picture. that's kind of funny.
The cowards didn't want to fight a bull with his ire up so they euthanized it. So much for Spanish masculinity.
Poor thing! Humans are the cruelest species. Bull fighting and rodeos will never be "sports" to me. Just a bunch of macho jacka$$eS trying to look tough at some poor animal's expense.
Why all of the comparisons to rodeos? The animals are not hurt (purposely) or killed in rodeos.
Good, it is about time that these expatiators got a taste of this medicine. There are a lot of "TRADITIONS" around the world that need be shelved, bullfighting is definitely one of them. My compliments to the BULL
