These birds look like they should be in a science fiction movie, as they appear to be a little other-worldly to me.

An ostrich opens its mouth in an attempt to nip at a camera as another ostrich looks on during the first Ukrainian Ostriches Festival near Kiev on Sept. 4. The farming of the ostiches, and lately exotic birds, is becoming more popular among Ukrainian farmers.

Katie, you got that right, and they kick and bit like heck too.
These birds may be funny looking but they're dangerous and, at times, vicious. I lived in Escondido, CA for a while. A neighbor had six of these birds. If you went anywhere near this guy's property, the Ostriches would run right at you (and they are fast runners) (and thank goodness for fences!) and they are HUGE birds. They'll bite. They're vicious. This neighbor used them rather than dogs. Makes one wonder what he was up to?
Is it the same guy that sells the ostrich eggs? We see that yard on the way up to the Wild Animal Park. The kids get a real kick out of seeing them in someones backyard.
Reminds me of my aunts who always wanted to kiss you!
Katie...There really mean and onery critters that can eat like a horse. Back in the 90's I had a friend who thought He was going to get rich by raising Emus down here in Texas. After spending over $300,000 on breeding pairs that became celebate because of a thunderstorm and His grandson was was nearly disembowelled trying to wrestle one back into its coral. He slaughtered the whole flock..one bird at a time. The chicken fried Emu steaks, smoked Emu sausage, were out of this world!
They don't eat phrogs do they?
