I'm looking at pictures from all over the world of Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim holiday to celebrate the end of Ramadan. They're pretty typical, except for these images from Somalia. If you have never heard of Al Shabaab or the situation in Somalia, I'm sure you will in the coming months.

Somali Islamists hold their guns as they attend prayers to mark the first day of Eid al-Fitr in the capital Mogadishu, September 10, 2010. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims around the world abstain from eating, drinking and sexual relations from sunrise to sunset.

I still think you do a strong disservice to Muslims everywhere by equating gunmen with a holy holiday via the title of this entry. Sharing the atypical nature of these pictures is useful, but the overall tone seems almost inflammatory, especially considering the current insanity going on in NY & FL
This is not the first time. The editor is either ignorant or biased.
Two days back, on the occasion of the end of Ramadan, he opted to post a photo of what he claims were two Muslims holding a knife and getting ready to kill a camel. He wrote that the photo was taken recently and that the camel was being sacrificed on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which he erroneously thought meant the Festival of Sacrifice.
In the occasion of Eid al-Adha last year, which is the actual Festival of Sacrifice, he posted a photo of people grabbing a camel. He wrote that this was a photo of people getting ready to sacrifice a camel.
Arkanjil/AhmadH,
Though your scutiny of the pictures may be fair or justified, please explain your thoughts of the photos themselves. Its easy to be subjective and critical, inform us of the actions being taken in the pictures, enlighten us of our erronous perceptions.
The peaceful Islam,...
Thousands of years still no progress, contaminating the whole world with this savagery,
The picture was fine work, it was the overall title explicitly tieing a line of self proclaimed holy thugs to an Islamic holiday celebrated world wide- the same effect would have been equally appalling if you had ran a picture of 'Christian' gunmen under the title of 'Christmas Day', I think. I've seen most every picture you've posted you've ran form this one to now, and I've seen nothing so egregious since, but egregious this is, especially considering the straw man political fights over the so called Ground Zero Mosque that were happening at the time.
Apologies for the long delay; I'd received no notice that anyone replied to my original comment, and found this by accident
