Al Shabab militants parade new recruits after arriving in Mogadishu October 21, 2010, from their training camp south of the capital.

If Al Shabab held a photo op, would anyone come?

Apparently, yes they will. This isn't a great picture, but it still fascinates me, and prompts two main thoughts:

First, note the tripods in the background. It's as if the bad guys in The Road Warrior got themselves a PR person and set up a photo op.

Second, do you think those welds holding the heavy machine gun to the bag rack of the ATV "technical" are going to hold up if the weapon is being fired at full auto?

Previously on Photoblog, two strong pictures from Feisal Omar:

I've never seen an ATV rigged as a technical before. Usually one sees that sort of improvisation on a truck of some sort. Given that machine guns tend to be two-handed weapons, how is one supposed to drive and shoot at the same time? Otherwise, that's got to be the nastiest hood ornament I've ever seen.

Jaye - I've never seen a picture of one either (and have never been to Somalia to see any person, which is fine by me). This gallery of images - http://membres.multimania.fr/France40/techphot.html - has some interesting examples, but no ATVs.

If I am not mistaken that is 100mph Green tape holding the lower assembly together on the MG. These goofballs are a sniper's dream.
