Miss ALL my Marine brothers and sisters. Retirement is great, but I still miss putting my boots on and cocking my M4, and even the hellish 14 hour patrols in the Raq. Stay frosty, keep your six clear, and Charlie Mike. Love to you ALL. Semper Fi..........

It should be that they all return home safe and sound, hale and hardy.

Thank you for your service. (U.S. Navy, 1979-84)

Were this people who enlisted voluntarily? Any one with military experience knows better. Support the troops. Get them home.

Appreciate everyone of you and your courageous efforts - and bless those who have passed. Hopefully, the powers that be, bring you all home soon. You're all heroes.

      My best to all

Why in the hell would you put the snipers name and hometown in the story?

What is wrong with you MSNBC? Even if the guy said it was okay, why do it anyhow?

It's been 40 years since I took off the fatigues, 40 years since I awoke to "incoming", 40 years since I watched the Cobra gunships rip up our perimeter. It was all worth it because it bought me membership in the most prestigious "fraternity" ever assembled. We have a new "graduating class" joining the ranks of the American Military Veteran....and they will be welcomed by all those who served before.

America has poured TRILLIONS of dollars into building hundreds of extremely expensive military bases across Afghanistan. Thanks to MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, her video team exposed how the American people are being hoodwinked by these propaganda photos of mere mud huts and mud forts the soldiers are 'alleged' to be fighting out of. Those huge hundreds of new US Military bases across Afghanistan have many amenities which you'd find in any city in America, however building them in Afghanistan is causing them to cost the American taxpayers 1000x more than what it would cost in a lost hostile environment.

These repeated mud hut and mud 'fort' shots are pure propaganda and a disgrace to the American people in a crass and heartless effort by the US Military complex and the Pentagon to hoodwink the American people into thinking Trillions of American taxpayer dollars have not been funneled into Afghanistan rebuilding hundreds of city sized bases there along with the most expensive embassy's in the entire world.

Trillions spent on bases in Afghanistan? Really? Trillions...where do you even come up with such an absurd number? Alot of the money that is spent is used in order to get the necessary building supplies across hostile terrain to a remote location in order to build a base. As well, a lot of the money spent on building projects for U.S. military bases is within the major compounds already in place in Afghanistan. Just Google pictures of Bagram or Kandahar Air Fields.

A Co 1/8! My boys! The foul weather warriors! It has been 16 years since I was with them, but my heart is still there! Keep your head down and your powder dry!
