Claire, what are you taking out on Obama in regards to the Military, it was George Bush who actually cut VA benifits especially to the disabled vetrans rehabilitation and hospital. On one hand you want to cut government spending radically but not to the military whose budget is bigger than the whole rest of the world, they have so much fat and graft and good old boy contracts you could chop 10% and our military would be better off, it needs a good cleaning out. Remember what Pres Eisenhower said about the military industrial complex.

Quit listening to FOX News, they ain't fair and balanced. Obama has done lots for the Military and incidently he has captured and killed more terrorists in two years than Bush did in 8 years. Why don't you listen to other stations and read some worthwhile newspapers and magazines, I dare you Claire, open your mind. For instance everytime you hear some outlandish claim the Rush or "Hateny", or any of the Fox brain washing crew makes, then turn on MSNBC and listen to Olberman or Maddow or Mathews and they refute what the Republicans and commentators have said and they usually do it with fact presented as historical fact and usually qouting or listening and watching tape about some Republican Senator or Congressman saying the opposite 6 months to a year ago. Its entertaining as hell but scary because you actually believe this drivel. They are brain washing you and controlling you by telling you what they want you to believe. Adolph Hitler's propaganda minister said it sicintly by saying and I'm not exact here but "If you tell the people a lie long enough and loud enough, they will believe it.

Why are you against change, why are the republicans against things like Health care reform, do you think that when our premiums go up 30% every year that they aren't making tons of money on us and you always see them reduce the treatments that they will do for you. Heaven forbid you ever have a child who is born with a congenital heart condition or you get breast cancer and later you are cancelled, because you would know the fear these people feel when they think about how they will be financially ruined if they or their kids go to the hospital. The government had to fight like hell just to get them to change that and now if people can just afford the premiums they will be safe from ruin but as their premiums are not protected they will eventually be ruined, how can you support a system like that.

Getting back to the military, isn't it nice the Obama administration cancelled the f-22a fighter program that was going to cost over $100,000 million per fighter or maybe we should buy more Bradley Fighting Veichles that don't have armour to stop a armor piercing shell or 50 caliber machine gun fire, incidently it is a troop carrier, oh and it doesn't float like it's supposed to, glug, glug go our troops to the bottom. How about the Osprey, the helicopter/plane with the big propellors, it doesn't fly very well but still they push it. Oh, and how about those Hummers that weren't plated so that it would protect our troops from roadside bombs or small arms fire. Remember how Chaney and Bush promised to get those jeeps protected right away, they still don't have them all converted to this day 3 or 4 years later. I rather have a little support getting some steel between me and a roadside bomb than I would care about the amount the Pentagon didn't get. Now that is the support we need, but Bush and Chaney didn't get it for them. Remember when they said we had the best protected and outfitted fighting force in the world. Months later soldiers were still waiting for their parents to raise enough money to buy some body armor for them.

You could ask the Generals that buy this trash for our fighting men and women if they are supporting the troops. Obama is dammed if he does and dammed if you doesn't because if he trys to cut spending then all hell breaks loose from the Pentagon and the Arms suppliers who immediately have called their bribed congressmen and Senators to protect their hugely profitable contracts.

My father was killed flying his jet in the reserves when I was a kid and as my mom tried to sue the plane manufaturer, she was told by a aeronautical expert that if these planes had to be certified to be airworthy by the FAA, they would not as they are not built with safety for our fighting forces. We found out in the end after a couple other pilots died in the next few years that the charge in the ejection seat were defective and went off prematurely while the pilot was still in the cockpit. So who is supporting out troops, certainly not the Generals, Admirals, congressmen, Senators, and bureaucrats who keep buying this crap for our people. Try supporting our president as he pushes for change Claire, the troops will love you for it and more will come home. If we spend more than all other militaries, then why do we have such @!$%# for our troops.

Get off Obama's tail and the democrats, they were the ones who dared to bring about "change" in this government and isn't that supporting the troops and the people of this nation. Change in the military, change in health care, change in the taxes the rich don't pay. Now you have me started, here's a fact for you 79 of the richest people make more that the poorest 19 million people in our country. one tenth of one percent of our people make 8 million or more and they would pay $375,000 more in taxes, enough to put $6000 in every college student's pocket, don't we need to be better educated as it will trickle thru the economy and we will grow. Republicans support the Bush tax cuts for everyone but when you think about it, a person making 8 million is not going to shut the plant down or go hungry because he pays a smaller bit more of his wealth.

I agree with you 100% but the problem is the people just don't know how to fix this mess. What they don't understand is that we being controlled by an earless president and a congress who's only apparent goal is their own arrogant gain. Banks, Insurance companies, oil industries, and several more "industries" have stripped this country bare to the bone and we have done nothing less than let them.

But there are no innocents in this situation. The greed you mention is not only within the government, it's also within ourselves. In our own greedy quest for higher wages we have driven the manufacturing industries out of our country. Remember when cars typically cost 3 to 4 thousand dollars? I do and it wasn't that long ago. In the 60's the typical car cost less than 4 thousand dollars and I was making over six dollars an hour working at PG&E. Cost of living you say? Ok what does that entail? It entails the cost of a product being increased by the cost of making it. What makes that cost go up? The cost of material and wages.

We can't fix this because we won't give up the high wages we've worked so hard to get increased to the point that we've driven factories out of business or out of country. But we can fix the government by starting all over. Just don't re-elect anyone.

Very well put GARY973176, change is needed. We have become a PLUTOCRACY not a DEMORACY, it's run by the rich for the rich, not for the people. Why do people support this? Why do they listen to all the bull that comes out of politicians mouths and why do they listen to advertisements paid for by special interests groups who disguise who they are and how they will benifit from controlling us and making us believe a certain way.
