Blasted tower falls the wrong way in Ohio

Bill Lackey / Springfield News-Sun via AP

The former Ohio Edison Mad River Power Plant’s 275-foot smoke stack in Springfield, Ohio falls toward spectators and surrounding buildings as it falls the wrong way during its demolition, Nov. 10, 2010. There were no injuries reported in the accident but power was knocked out for more than 8000 customers when the smoke stack crushed several pieces of power equipment.

See a video of the demolition below.

Apparently it was a democratic tower because it fell to the left.

TeeHee

Someone didn't do their set-up right or didn't do their math/equation correctly. Now, where did I leave that slide rule?

Video is priceless...good thing it wasn't a 30 story building.

You are mistaken. The John Boehner tower has more of an orange tint to it.

The good news is, it's down now. Let say, what if it's just standing there and wait a bird or something stop by to give a little push!

The Substation crew will be working on this mess a lot longer than the line crews. Just sayin'... If it hit oil circuit breakers or worse yet, a power transformer, yikes!!! We're talking millions of $$$.

that had to be (yes I lean left but I don't think this is what I meant) one of the best jokes I've read here in ages. You've got me in tears. If it had imploded like it should have it would be center... :P Now was it supposed to implode or fall over?? Cedar Falls IA High school has a crack in it's smoke stack as it was discovered today. Fortunately it's an old metal one from the early 50's. So they welded support beams to it, but just to be safe classes are canceled tomorrow. :) Oh well. Thats via wind.. Just another video to add to my brain. Like the one that blew up and flipped upside down intact. O_O

Were any Republican Tea Bag's or AIPAC Zionist foreign agents seen in the area prior to this tower falling in the wrong way? IF so that would explain the resulting unforeseen disaster.

The sequence of explosions was way off. Someone set something in the wrong order or there was a console malfunction.

                                          Sh*t happens!

Wrong order, possible but not likely. I spent 27 years working in the explosive business. What could have happened though is this: 1. Not enough explosives placed in the proper location. 2. Nobody accounted for the extra re-bar inside the concrete. 3. There could have been an inner wall. When the first charge went off the energy could have been displaced through the cavity of that wall. The second explosion could have then weakened the exterior of the structure improperly which then could have caused it to collapse in the wrong direction. My main concern with this is what idiot and I do mean idiot, would have allowed people to stand underneath power lines with a tower close enough to hit them, in the event the tower went the wrong way? Especially with a power station nearby. Accidents do happen but in this case their inability to take into consideration the possibility of "what if it goes the wrong way" was inexcusable. The company or individual who allowed this to happen and jeopordized the lives of innocent people for the sake of fame has no business working with explosives. They were extremely fortunate no one was killed. Suggestion stick to the Fourth of July fire works and leave the blasting to professionals.

My thoughts exactly I don't know if they were close enough to actually have it fall on them but I'd say defiantly close enough to have been hit by debris had it fallen their direction and yeah what were they even thinking standing under the lines that's just stupid. Good thing they were not high tension lines if they were high enough voltage the residual in the lines could have killed somebody easily and even arched to someone with out actually coming in contact with them. Also that could have easily snaped those poles when it hit the lines and brought it down right on a spectator.

It's a smoke stack...it's made of concrete and iron/steel rebar....if it were bamboo It might have bounced...also if it were bamboo it would catch fire...because it's a smoke stack...
