Rep.-elect Cory Gardner, at left and Rep.-elect Scott Tipton, both from Colorado, get their picture taken by a staff member on the steps of the Capitol building in Washington, on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010.

Today the freshman class finally got to have their picture made on the steps of the Capitol even though they arrived in Washington 4 days earlier. Weather prevented the photo from being taken then, but today was sunny and cool – a perfect day for a class photo. This year’s group is the largest of House freshman in more than 60 years, numbering 93.  Of those, 34 have never been an elected official before, and only 9 are Democrats.  The Senate side has 16 new members, just 3 of those being Democrats.

Why is it the people on the right always talk about 'cutting spending'....then basically call Ronald Reagan their hero in the same breath? Take a guess, just one guess, which one of our last five Presidents increased spending by the largest percentage???

Yep - that's right......your hero Ronald Reagan. The two Bush's are #'s 2 and 3 on that list by the way. I guess spending is only horrible, and 'socialism' when it's a democrat as President.

ah, but look at the first woman in the first row...Colleen Hanabusa, a liberal democrat from Hawaii, a woman of asian descent, Buddhist, and the eventual victor over the blue dog, democratic party choice, Ed Case.

baby steps...

What's really sad is that all these people are so happy to see this 'Change' in Congress, They fail to realized that we haven't really changed at all. The same four people are still in charge of the Congress. Pelosi, Boener, Ried, and McConnell.  Wise up people you are being played!!

If this new class of Congress are considered to be the "watchdogs", who's watching them? The Tea Party Republicans or the Christian Right? Now I'm concerned...

I feel the problem is people. Created by Almighty God to be fruitful and multiply and subdue the earth. To Glorify Him.

The Constitution of the USofA was written to keep us out of what we are into. Has anyone read it lately?

When the Dems. were in charge, it was easy for the Right to point the finger and criticize. What will be the excuse now, when they screw up? We shall see. Will they come with the same fervor and criticize there own? I doubt it.

Looks like a team picture, let's hope they all act that way. That is the American way! That's what America wants.

Look at the dork in the hat, third row up from the bottom, second from the right. I predict he'll be the first one accused of sexually harassing the help.

I see the party of "No" is well represented. You people voted for them and will now pay the price.

Everybody will want services that the govt. provides and there won't be funding any more!

Just remember one thing, most of these senior Republicans returning were part of Bush Administration which caused this fiancial fiasco we are in, and now they are going to fix it? Hardly!wf

We've been paying the price for 2 years now you Idiot, The only Reason Obama got in the White house is because a lot of White's were shamed into voting for him, knowing that he wasn't qualified to be President or Commander and Chief.

And I don't want to hear anymore about how Stupid Bush was because unlike Obama, He can fly a Jet aircraft and obama has a hard time putting up curtains.

I find it shocking that Brianb-999431 is touting that Democrats are over spending. It is a funny freak of nature how Brianb has so conveniently forgotten the over spending of Ronald Regan, George H. Bush and George W. Bush. Brian please research and make an attempt to read unbiased news from Factcheck.org, Newsweek, and the New York Times. Your argument is very week and very short sited.

Like i said before, all i see is a bunch of idiots. Nothing is going to get done. People think they were taking out the trash, and then all of a sudden they dump the whole garbage truck right on the front steps.

Andy Harris (R-MD) (Balcony #6 in from the left) This guy campained that he would repel Healthcare for Americans, an got to Washington DC 1hr from his house in Baltimore County. And pitch a fit that he would have to wait 30 days for his govt. run healthcare to kick in. See this is the kind of stuff that they do. Tell you that i'm going to DC and repel that Healthcare reform, because it's wrong for America. Will not give more Unemployment benifits if we can not cut some social programs first, keep the tax-cuts for the wealth which mst of than are both parties and these are the people you think that can bring America back.
