People stand next to a giant art installation representing a polar bear painted with red food dye at the base of the Langjokull glacier in Iceland, on Nov. 26. The image, created by artist Bjargey Olafsdottir, is inspired by the Nazca lines of Peru and children's drawings and seeks to highlight diminishing glaciers and the uncertain future polar bears face.

18 of the 19 major polar bear populations have increased over the last few decades, and are even starting to face the risk of overpopulation. Clearly humanity has other priorities we can be devoting attention to besides the nonexistent threat to polar bears.

Nick, where did you get this information? In my Google search on your claim, I found this:

At the 2009 meeting of the IUCN Polar Bear Specialist Group, scientists reported that of the 19 subpopulations* of polar bears:

      • 8 are declining.
      • 3 are stable.
      • 1 is increasing.

      By comparison, in 2005:

      • 5 were declining.
      • 5 were stable.
      • 2 were increasing.

*Insufficient data to determine the fate of the other 7 populations

They are increasing in Ontario, Canada, have been for years. Needaplan? You needaclue. The source you "quote" is a left wing-nut group who is buying the "global warming/climate change" religion.

So, Chevs, please provide me the source of your information. Seriously. I'm trying to find the truth and it's not always easy to find. Appreciate your help.

Polar bears evolved over the course of hundreds of thousands of years. During that time the climate of the arctic has been much colder and much warmer than now, and yet they have endured. Green Peace, nor any other eco-lefist organization, had anything to do with it.

I agree with Lee, there are many other much more important issues on the table than to be spending any time worrying about polar bears

More left wing propaganda. Lets put these guys to selling Obama's GMC cars and they can pay the taxpayers back faster. The earth has been colder and warmer and all things adapt.....It's Gods way, so it's OK

Polar bears will go where the food is, that's nature's way. Keeping a couple of dogs tied up in the back yard will keep them out of the house

Easy way to save the polar bear habitat... create huge plastic icebergs.  Didn't I read that the polar bears were dying because they had to swim so far between icebergs or there were no icebergs in their feeding areas.

So ok... put a bunch of Americans to work in a factory building pre-fabricated icebergs.  They will float, never melt, and be available for creatures to sit and sleep on if needed.

                  Ta da!
