A gaucho, or cowboy, rides a horse as he competes during a rodeo in Escobar, Argentina, Nov. 28.

A gaucho takes on a horse in Argentina

Argentine cowboys must stay on a horse for approximately 15 seconds compared to saddle bronc riders in the United States who only have to last for eight seconds. Either count would be a tough task.

The placement of that leather bit does not seem very humane. Hopefully it is loosened or removed when the rider is not in competition. Try it with your fingers.

    Remington Rider.

I immediately thought of a Remington Bronze. This pic captures a moment very well, and Remington made bronzes that typically featured rider and horse, and they too captured a moment for eternity, as this shot does. It also made me remember Bill Cosby's take on The Lone Ranger and Silver.

Hi Ho Silver! What? Get off my back!

Please do not post pictures which cruelly depict pain of an animal. Look at the bit and the horse's eyes. Horrors!!

Thank you Bonny. Man's insatiable lust for power and control creates such cruelty to animals, people.and to the earth itself. Until that is overcome in each of us efforts to achieve peace in the world are fruitless.

Why? Why would anyone want to injure or cause pain to an animal? Money? Just look at that animal's eyes. How brutual. And I'm sure his countrymen think of this 'person' as a hero.
