Have they not invented the wheel in Pakistan yet? Geez, take 2 of those boards with 2 wheels and an axle and now the load is simply pulled... WTF?

"if I only had a brain!"

Ooops, I just reviewed the photo and see a cart in the background and now realize the cart was probably loaded unbalanced.

sadly this is a regular occurrence in this country and many others whose people rely on working animals to earn money. Well done to whoever took this photo and passed it on, only by knowing what is going on can people help, too many people just turn away and do nothing...I urge you all to support The Brooke who is working hard to stop this

This type of animal cruelty goes on ALL around the world! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the size of the load compared to the size of the animal! This is despicable!

This is hideous...that poor animal must suffer something terrible. Animals in these countries are slaves.

This is the harsh reality of how animals are treated all over the world. Thank you for sharing about The Brooke, at least there are organizations that are working to help animals in these countries.

If they treat their animals this way, how do they treat their family? Truly animal cruelty.

i pray this photo represents the exception and not the norm for how pakistani working animals are treated. it appears that several people have dropped their things to help the donkey. i'd like to think one of them also dressed down the owner for their cruelty.

Lets hope criminal cruelty charges are brought against the "owner" of this poor creature. May God have mercy on their souls.

Linda, in countries like Pakistan the concept of animal cruelty doesn't even exist.

The expression on this poor creature says it all. How cruel to do this to a creature that depends on humans for it's care and compassion.

thank you Pilar! I personally feel that I would not have had a tenth of the remorse if one of those people were being overworked...animals can't defend themselves, especially a small, wormy, starved little donkey...bastards. This is why I protect every horse that comes into my hands even in this country where we are so blessed with plenty...they suffer here too, but once they get to me or someone like me, whoever wants to harm them had better have an army!

This is exactly why I am leaving every penny of my estate to benefit non homo-sapien animals, as did Leona Helmsley. Mother Earth will be taking care of man, her mistake, within 100 years, as Professor/astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, et al predict.

Animals will be SO much better off - once again.

I have lived in or extensively visited Indonesia, China, Palestine and Thailand. I have never understood why people who depend on animal labor for their living treat those animals so poorly. If the animal is sick or weakened or even dies from abuse and overuse, it surely will hurt the owner in his pocket. Not only is the behavior cruel, it is just stupid.

because they're mindless inhuman monkeys! At least in the case of Pakistan, you're talking about a country which is SUPPOSED to be civilized (trained?? housebroken???) but a good proportion of the male populace still considers self-immolation a good way to get rid of a wife who's been with them 10 months without conceiving. they throw her away and get another, the same way their animals are treated (the non-human ones I mean)

Just knowing how people are treated in third world countries makes me expect this, but I hate it! They are probably only helping because his little body is blocking traffic. This is so sad.
