U.S. President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia, left, and Sasha walk away from Marine One after returning from Hawaii to the White House in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, Jan. 4. The President spent Christmas and the New Year in Hawaii filling his days with golf, family time, beach visits and reading, and was unusually absent from the spotlight, as he conducted official business behind closed doors.
As the captions state, today the first family returned from a two-week vacation to Hawaii.
We're not sure if Saul Loeb, the photographer of the top image, was caught off guard by the White House staffers walking with the surfboards, but the tilted horizon in that image detracts from what otherwise would be a great feature image.
In other news, look how fast Malia Obama is growing. She is now nearly as tall as her mom.

Actually, you are wrong. Malia is going to have stunning good looks. And, if she has any natural athletic ability, by the time she's old enough for college and has finished growing, basketball or volleyball might be good choices. College recruiters take note.

Sasha is becoming a little porker, her butt is almost as large as Michelle's. Guess her program to reduce childhood obesity doesn't apply to her own kids.

As a surfer, you can tell these guys don't even now how to carry a surfboard, I mean, would you want to get wax on your suit? No, of course you wouldn't. Plus, those are big wave boards, better to leave that up to the real surfers. Barak should be riding a longboard.

I think the angle of the surfboard photo works. The first board is level, the second points to the bottom right corner. The eye enters the photo and quickly lands on the men with the boards. From there the angle helps hold the eye and guides the eye in this downward trajectory that is appropriate for the content. The tilted angle feels somewhat unconventional, which is exactly right for a photo of presidential aides carrying surfboards.
Malia is a grown woman and has been for the past couple of years. Poor diet with excessive hormones has seen her and her little 9-year old sister "blossom" well before their peers. It was after the girls' pediatrician told Michelle that she had to watch the girls diet because they were OVERWEIGHT that Michelle began this vendetta on all American parents. Moochelle doesn't realize that all American parents aren't as naive or negligent as she is. We don't all have our girls at 11 busting out over tight tank tops, coming out of church no less. But then what do we expect with a mother who dresses like a street walker.
I suprised they didn't bring sand to the beach for his royal douchebagginess.
