The South Bend Tribune reports: Mayor declares winter weather emergency
SOUTH BEND — Mayor Stephen Luecke has declared a winter weather emergency for the city of South Bend through 8 a.m. Sunday.

At a press conference at 11 a.m. today, Luecke, along with police, fire and street department officials, requested that people stay off the streets during this time to allow snow-removal and emergency workers to do their jobs.

"We've had an extraordinary amount of snow," Luecke said. Even if you're able to get your vehicle out now, he added, you may not be able to get back in later because you might be plowed in.

"Stay home," Luecke said. "Enjoy your family."
