Caroline Kennedy pays tribute to JFK

Michael Reynolds / EPA

Daughter of President John F. Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, delivers remarks, Jan. 20, 2011, in front of Vice President Joe Biden, left to right, US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry during a ceremony in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Inaugural address of President Kennedy, in the Capitol Rotunda on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.

President John F. Kennedy thrilled and challenged his countrymen 50 years ago with his Inaugural address. Not quite three years later he was assassinated in Dallas. His legacy has been, and probably will be, debated for years. One thing is clear. America is still fascinated with him and his family.

Jan. 20, 1961: John F. Kennedy takes the oath of office then delivers an historic inaugural address.

Kathy-2957477, did you listen to to the speech? You are probably a Republican but even we Republicans can recognize a great speech when we hear it. This has got to be the greatest Inaugural speech of modern times, maybe of all times. In less than ten minutes John Kennedy said many profound things in a manner that raised the hair on the back of my neck, then, as it does now. This speech will live forever and it will always chill the spines of americans, Democrats and Republicans, alike- regardless of what they think of the Kennedy family. Please, just listen to the speech.

You would have to be living in a cave not to have heard the speech, but thanks for the lecture. What good is a speech if you don't deliver in the end. The Kennedy's did so many horrible things to people, including their own family, that they ended up not being around to deliver. Yes, we can thank Ted Sorenson for a good speech. But not Caroline, Joe or John who were just trotted out for another photo op.

Kathy-2957477 - if all you can take from a call to make our country better and to act with civility is the invictive that you left above, then you are clearly a very miserable and ignorant woman. and to answer your initial query, the Kennedys will never go away. because this speech and what they stand for never will. You on the other hand, should go away, leave the internet free of your bad attitude and keep your ignorance to yourself.

Typical-call names when you can't deal with the facts. Stating facts about what the Kennedys did to get where they are is not "bad attitude and ignorance." Grow up.

Kennedy was a fraud, pure and simple, as I have discussed in an article entitled, "John F. Kennedy: The Most Despicable President In American History."

The problem is that the Kennedy family members and sycophants have been burying the truth since his assassination, and it needs to be told. When he died, his "image" was frozen in time, but the truth is grotesque. To lionize him like his sycophants have done is a crime, and unconscionable.

The latest travesty is Caroline Kennedy's successful distortion of the truth by forcing the History Channel to drop its already-completed min-series about Kennedy and his wife, starring Katie Holmes and Greg Kinnear.

Edward and Griffin, thank you for your comments – they reflect both reality and compassion on a very proud day, the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of John F. Kennedy, a man of innumerable accomplishments and a peacemonger, ultimately. I just came back from the Kennedy Center tonight, where he was feted and honored as he should have been. I have been a student of those times all of my life –– As for Kathy-2..... and one Timothy D. Naegele (tea, anybody?), they come forth with inane and lame remarks (& she is most likely a paid-from-home troller), as well as accusations without facts and outright condemnation without an iota of reality, respectively. How lovely to intimate that the Kennedys were so horrible that they did themselves in, and no other parties were to blame ... of course, that makes it all quite simple, probably at about the level they both can handle –– way below the heights of beauty, truth, and dedication (exemplified by that entire family) that were so obvious. All of which would be mocked in today’s toxic political atmosphere, of course, but those ARE the reasons they still matter, and always will.

dc-moonlighter-If you were at this so called gala tonight, you are most likely either a Kennedy, someone who works for the Kennedys or someone who is stuck in the early 60's-a world which no longer exists. Calling names is all you can do and if you truly were a sudent of the Kennedy's you would know everything they did now is documented facts. Clearly you have lost touch with reality. Sad.

Wow and we wonder why our country is in such bad shape. It starts with negativity. Let's talk Sarah Palin for starters.

Leave the Kennedy's alone (no I'm not a Kennedy) and while we are at it the Nixon's, Regan's, Wilsons, Roosevelts, Bush's too. THEY are history.

It is time for us to say all contributed to a great past but it is up to us to create the future. So quit crying, whinning and saying how bad it was. If we don't get optimistic about the future you will have a reason to cry!!!
