Thanks to a snowmobile, Google Street View is coming to a mountain near you

Yes that's right, Google Street View is no longer confined to the street. Here's a Google video explaining more:

Street View is now on the ski slopes!

I don't know, I'd rather save my money and go there, so I could smell the air, feel the cold snow and snowboard. I'm not a big fan of Skype, or other such video internet things, but they do have a place and I do use them, once and a awhile. You see, I don't see the internet as a way to connect to people, what it really is mostly is a Huge Billboard for advertising. Instead of buying yet another computer, I think I'd rather go to the mountains......and really experience them.

Don't be such a wet blanket. Saving your money to travel is great, but remember that the internet is a great way to learn about a place before you actually go there.

When I went to Barbados about all I knew was that it was The Birthplace of Rum and had what was purported to be the most extensive orchid garden in the world. The rest I learned while I was there, and most of what I learned you couldn't get close to on the internet, even though I spent hours online trying to learn about the place. The dialects spoken, the feel of the humidity, the British Accents of everyone who lived there, and the slave history that permeates the past of that most beautiful Isle. In fact, Google Maps was useless in teaching how to drive on "The Wrong Side of the Road" and navigate roudabouts. I said it has it's place, but the internet will never be a substitute for actually Being There.
