Reuters reports:

A quarter-million mostly peaceful demonstrators marched through central London on Saturday against the toughest cuts to public spending since World War II, with some small breakaway groups smashing windows at banks and shops and spray painting logos on the walls.

Another group of black-clad protesters hurled paint bombs and ammonia-filled light bulbs at police.

Organizers of the March for the Alternative said people from across the country were peacefully joining in the demonstration, the biggest protest in London since a series of rallies against the Iraq war in 2003.

Commander Bob Broadhurst of the Metropolitan Police confirmed that more than 250,000 people had marched peacefully, but said around 500 had caused trouble in London's main shopping streets.

He said nine people had been arrested, for public disorder and criminal damage. Police said 28 people had been injured during the demonstration, and seven were admitted to hospitals for a range of problems, including shortness of breath and a suspected hip fracture. Five police officers were also injured and one of those had to be treated in hospital for a groin injury.

the people have a right to protest abeit peaceable. throwing paint bombs, breaking windows in shops, vandalizing businesses is not peaceful and shows disrespect towards the law... the police should use any means necessary to put down this protest.. world -wide there is no respect for law.....how sick the nations are. we allow gangs to terrorize our citizenry, and then pass laws to protect their right to lawlessness.. we don't execute murderers under the guise that we can rehabilitate them plus nothing is gained by their execution. yet how many get out and kill again. or rape again.. so many..our prisons are full of extreme criminals who should be executed but aren't ,and because they know they won't be, have no fear of the law and continue to terrorize our citizens from prison and commit murders in prison with no effect. just more time added..they have no fear of punishment.. they have no fear or respect for the law.

What if the ten commandments were the law of the land.. what if we actually executed those who deserved it. how much better the world would be if we punished those who kept on sining and hurting others. God says we are to practice justice. that the penalty for sin is death. if our citizens are not safe walking down the street at nite what are we to do.. if certain individuals continue to break the law , hurt others, we should get rid of themm, to protect others.. if the mobsters, gang bangers, pedophiles, rapists, thieves continue to do these things over and over, don't we have an obligation to get rid of them for the benefit of society. i say we do. but in our country and others, particularily the english speaking countries., personal responsibility is absent and no one is held accountable.. there is no respect for the law nor the rights of others.
