Hundreds attend funeral for slain Ga. officer

According to the AP: Hundreds turned out for the funeral of a slain Georgia police officer whose killing prompted a days-long manhunt for a suspect who surrendered live television. WSB-TV reports that an honor guard lined the streets of Athens on Sunday as the body of Officer Christian was escorted to the city's Classic Center. Police say 33-year-old Jamie Hood fatally shot Christian on Tuesday, when he also shot and seriously wounded Officer Tony Howard.

 The lives this officer would have saved in the future have also passed with him. May he rest in peace and may justice be served.

Only the officer should have a gun. Ban handguns now.

    We need to protect those who protect us...I suggest banning guns for those who don't protect us! How about putting all cops in robo cop armor as well! The world is changing and not for the better.

      There once stood a line of Blue and Brown. They patrol the roads of the counties and towns.

      They wear a badge that stands for what is right. They face what everyone fears, day or night.

      They never get rich and are seldom praised. They are yelled at, cursed, and generally hazed.

      So one might ask, why they put up with such strife?. And on occasion lay down their only life.

      For those who stand and answer the call. For those who protect and may give all.

      It doesn't matter if they wear Brown or Blue. What matters is that they hold the line, for me and you.
