Boy steals car from Gadhafi's forces to escape besieged Libyan town

Another extraordinary story of bravery and foolhardiness out of Libya today: a young boy says that he stole a vehicle from Moammar Gadhafi's forces in order to escape the besieged town of Brega. He then drove at speed through the rebel front line, causing panic and coming under fire as he did so.

A young boy who said he had spent two days in besieged Brega and stolen a vehicle belonging to Moammar Gadhafi's forces in order to return to the rebel side, is questioned by rebel fighters near the front line east of Brega on April 3. Rebel fighters shot the tires out of the vehicle as it sped through the front line but released the boy after listening to his story.

Foxwest, do you believe nothing you read? You must be so cynical.

(You might want to learn to spell as well. The word is "gullible". But then you probably don't believe that,...LOL!)

In poorer countries they will use whatever is available for military vehicles. They do not have the hundreds of billions of dollars extracted from wealthy, cynical Americans to spend on brand new jeeps fresh out of the factory. But then, I don't suppose you believe that do you? LOL!

There should be a big demand for pickups in Libya!

I am glad the boy is safe.

I have no reason not to believe this happened.

I am glad he is safe.

Sometimes we lose track of the individual lifes destroyed.

I saw the pictures of the 250 soldiers aboard th Turkish boat.

Normally I see in hospital pictures of solders the suffering they are enduring.

But in this I saw individuals trying to rescue their country for their familes, and willing to sacrifice their own lives for others.

There are Hero's in this world that would give their lives not just for this boy, but for so many others they would never know.

If everybody stole a vehicle than Gadhafi forces would have no movement. No movement means sitting ducks for the U.N. air strikes. Good way to end the war.

No need to doubt this story; not all young boys overseas are as spoiled and playstation/youtube/facebook addicted like most youngsters in the western world. Judge them not from such perspctive. Fly with me to Indian as I introduce you to a 13-year-old boy who is the sole winner of bread for his entire family. Come with me to South Africa and meet even younger boys and girls who are so independent and motivated to make ends meet after losing both parents to AIDS. Life is not a bed of roses. Life is a struggle. And, in this spectacular story from Libya, life is about determination, courage and risk taking.

Yes, did you ever read the story of the 11 year old in Washington State that stole a car to return to his hometown of Texas. He DID learn how to drive from PS. :)

But this story puts a perspective on the violence in the world and those who are innocently caught in the middle.

Well if you would stop fighting and build a country like we did, your children could be normal and play games and act like children. but you come to America and forget your own people. go ahead kneel on a carpet and pray with your rifle beside you, Be a Pirate. have children you can't afford. our country is two hundred years old, how old is yours. necessity is the mother of invention, here he had one out and took it, brave kid, should get a medal if the rebels win, for removing a gadaffi asset, and if they have tires, rebels can use it, or if no tires use as a decoy or to reinforce a roadblock, cant someone get the rebels inflatible fake tanks, and other mock targets to draw down gadaffis weapons reserve, supplying them with i.e, an inflatble mock tank would not be giving them weapons, the rebels, that could ever be used against civilians
