Protesters urge government spending cuts on Capitol Hill

Protesters demonstrate in front of the Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, on April 6, urging for government spending cut. Republican US House Speaker John Boehner told US President Barack Obama he was "hopeful" that talks on sweeping spending cuts would reach a deal to avert a partial government shutdown at week's end. Boehner reiterated that the House's goal is to prevent a government shutdown and make real cuts in spending, which the Speaker has argued is necessary to support private-sector job creation and boost confidence in the nation's economy." US lawmakers and the White House are racing to make a midnight Friday deadline to have an agreement on legislation funding government operations through October 1, failing which key federal agencies will shut down.

Visitors gather in the main entrance of the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall in Washington, Wednesday, April 6. The White House warns of a temporary cutoff in pay for troops in war zones if the budget impasse brings a partial government shutdown. The IRS wouldn't be able to process some tax refunds, and there also could be a holdup in mortgage applications and small business loans. National parks and museums would be closed, too.

 NBC's Nomenico Montanaro says:

"The president isn't leading," House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) charged, noting first that he liked the president personally and that they "get along well."

He criticized the president for not implementing any of his own fiscal commission's recommendations in his budget.

And he upped the ante, saying House Republicans were prepared to go forward with a bold one-week continuing resolution that would cut a whopping $12 billion in spending but continue to fund the Pentagon through September.

The Refi Plus program will waive the normal credit score requirement for a refinance; it will have reduced documentation standards for proof of income; and it will allow for computer-based appraisals, which tend to inflate the value of a home and make it easier to qualify for a refinance. Search online for "Mortgage Refinance 123" they are the best and fast.

While they are off of work for a while perhaps it would be a good time for a major remodel....and I'm not refering to the buildings.

All the money you want for wars, foreign aid and the military so the Republicans want to cut spending on the young, or in firmed and the elderly. Tax cuts for the wealth and corporate welfare for companies to out source to other nations while paying no tax in the US.

If in the course of the 2012 elections people do not stand up and vote the Republicans and tea party out of existence then they truly deserve a religious theocracy with no middle class.

How the Republicans and Tea party members think shutting down the government will help their image is well beyond stupid. All they propose is to cut is social programs but cutting the military, shutting down the wars or taxing corporations and ending the stupid Bush tax cuts is off the table. I hope the public votes them into oblivion.

We blew 608 billion on Libya not to mention what Iran and Iraq cost for the same time period. We can make up for that by not providing home heating oil for the poor or elderly next winter. Or maybe some other social safety net cuts will balance the budget. The stupidity of those who do not understand the root cause of our financial melt down and why we don't stand up and stop this madness is amazing.

Who went to Libya and spent that money? I think it was Odumbo that made that decision. Who went to Iraq and spent that money, it sure wasnt Bush that started it. He may have continued it but he sure didnt start it. So place the blame where it is due. All you have to do to stop this insane spending is the same thing they did in Wisconsin that is to stay in Washington until they get the message. Quit the damn spending. Rebub, tea party or Dems . If we all quit work and they dont get money they cant spend it understand? Lets all stay in Washington on Odumbo's doorstep until he understands he too is broke and does not have a job next time. Some people need to go to Nevada and park on Rieds doorstep too as well as N. Pelosi.

Gosh, making up names, even when you aren't far off, just doesn't make you seem very smart.

I'd sort of like to see some documentation myself. I suppose if the cost of the ships at sea were factored in it may add up to that, but they're there anyways. Now the cost of the tomahawks, there you go, I agree, but, more work for Americans at home. Keep crankin' out them tomahawks.

Dont you just love it. All the bums and lazy lumps in this country are worried they might have to get a job if the U.S. Gov. shuts down and they dont get their free check in the mail. The tax payers in this country have had it up to here with the free loaders.
