Buckley, Mich, High School track coach Ken Wicker looks down after placing a rose on a lone set of starting blocks before a 59.5 second silence in honor of Haley Baldinger during an April 7 track meet. Baldinger, who died in a car accident on April 1, held the school record in the 400 meters, in which no one competed in her honor. In back, from left, Haley Morairty, Kendra Duby and Bailee Kuhn, Baldinger's 3200 meter relay teammates.

17-year old Haley Baldinger, a senior at Buckley High School in Michigan, was killed in a car crash last Friday morning driving home from spring break.

Buckley Schools Superintendent Rick Heitmeyer told local news website UpNorthLive that "Haley was a great kid. She was a leader in the school, she was in National Honor Society, yearbook, and she was a superstar at volleyball, basketball, and track."
