A heard of cattle run from a wildfire near Marfa, Texas, on Saturday, April 9.
I was struck by the content in this frame shot over the weekend, having spent many a family vacation road tripping to Marfa and the Big Bend area in far West Texas.

At least one firefighter is in critical condition after battling the blazes in the state's Panhandle. TODAY.com's Dara Brown reports.

I sincerely hope whoever took this picture took the time to help the cattle escape.......
This drought has been horrific and abysmal!!!! I have had to reduce my angus herd from 129 cows to 76. Most of them went to slaughter. Some of my neighbors have had to sell all of their livestock. Very devastating. Most of my tanks (ponds) dried up and all the fish died. Wildlife has had to move closer to the rivers and creeks so they could survive, leaving them vulnerable to predators (coyotes, bobcats) You can't imagine the emotional toll this has taken on the ranchers and farmers in Texas.
I just attended a program given by the forest service. They told us there were 30,000 fires last year in Texas that consumed around 4,000,000 acres. Total number of homes and buildings burned approached 6000 You just can't imagine how horrible it has been.
