In recent years, Vietnam's salt industry has experienced some ups and downs that have resulted in redundancies and losses to the state budget. Due to falling domestic salt output and value, the country has to import salt to meet demand. In 2011, an expected 182,000 tons of salt will have to be imported despite inventories of salt in 2010. Khanh Hoa Province is a coastal province located in the South Central Coast. It is also known for its agarwood production.
