Great reporting, but:

We are hearing from Brush Himoff and other detractors that Bush should get the credit because President Obama would "bow down and seek forgiveness", their words. Here we are in a post-dead-man-walking era and the naysayers spew their versions to the gullible masses in hopes of thwarting this "game-changer". Here's the real bottom line: President Obama got Osama! President Obama is president! President Obama approved the operation! All that is being disclosed today happened before yesterday! Our "Special Ops" guys did the work at the direction of President Obama! I served so that "WE" could all voice our opinions without fear of reprisals and there are those who will change the actual operation and credit given to justify their versions. There was only one side to this operation and it was "OUR OPERATION" with "OUR SPECIAL OPS GUYS" and "WE GOT IT DONE"!

Rudy, you are absolutely correct when you said "there was only one side to this operation and it was OUR OPERATION with OUR SPECIAL OPS GUYS and WE GOT IT DONE" Obama may be the sitting president but all he did was allow the job to be completed finally. Thank God he was smart enough not to tell any outside country what we were doing or it would not have gotten done.

Well said Rudy! Thank you for your service. And thank you Mr. President for having the guts to order a mission far into Pakistan. It speaks well that you, Mr. President, were able to keep a lid on this for the 48+ hours between the time you gave the Order and the time the mission was carried out. And finally, thank you to all the special operations forces, including those who pulled-off this mission!

True but how long did FDR, Eisenhower, Truman, MacArthur and on and on sit on info far more serious and for a much longer time than what Obama did so lets not get carried away. Obama did what we would expect any US president to do. If he had blabbed it would have been the end of politics for him(if not worse). The guys who went in and put their very lives on the line are the heroes but unfortunately in order to conceal their ID's from nut job Muslim vengence seekers it will be a long time before we ever know who to thank. In the meantime let Obama bask in the sun of success(his specialty by the way)...the real heroes will have to wait.

Yes Mr. President and "special ops", thank you for shedding millions of gallons of international blood on foreign land in the name of justice. The American government and army should be tried for crimes against humanity. We never asked for your services in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and hundreds of other countries yet you forcefully provided them and killed millions of innocent lives. Thank you special ops for widowing women and orphaning children. Rather than spending billions of dollars in the aim of killing lives, spend that much for much needed reform within the US. Americans, learn from the revolts of the Middle East and apply.

The soldiers who have been fighting this war got Osama. Praise the men and women who have given their lives in this war and hallelujah they finally got the monster from 9/11! Those soldiers are the ones who deserve the credit!

        To freedom for Egypt:

This is what happens in a war. If you are looking to place blame, why don't you place it on the terrorists that instigated the invasion and the countries that harbored them. Without 9/11, we never would have had an agenda to be over there in the first place. Thousands of our innocents were murdered as well. Did you just expect us to sit back and take it? Would you have if you held the ability to fight back? If you want peace, stand up to the extremists living in Egypt and the surrounding countries. We cannot change a mindset that has been passed on for generations, but we surely will not sit here while the children of these ideals terrorize our country. What would you have done differently?

          #3.3 - Tue May 3, 2011 4:57 PM EDT

We should blame and get rid of the terrorists who happen to be the Jews (and don't look at me like that since many Americans have wrote about "9/11 conspiracy theories" throwing the blame on the American government and Jews. You can read about this in details on Wikipedia, some shocking information by the way). Also, the simplest evidence that the Jews were behind this attack is when you convert one of the flight numbers into a font called Wingdings on Word which shows the symbol of the Star of David and two towers being bombed) but as usual, a filthy game was played and Bush and his administration already had issues with Al-Qaeda so decided to blame them instead in order to obliterate them. I would have done this differently. Rather than America playing filthy games with Muslims who were falsely blamed, they should have looked a hell of a lot closer into the attacks in order to find the real truth then take the appropriate action.

I believe that since the US is drowing in debt, since it cannot afford another day of war (putting in mind it spent 600 billion dollars for the operation in order to kill Osama [it could have used that money for cancer research or to create better hospitals or schools for Gods sake!!]), and since the Americans are starting to get fed up with war and want reform like whats happeneing in the Middle East, it finally decided to put on another show that they actually found and killed Osama in order to give closure to Americans. Is it possible that if a man was missing for 10 years, they easily found him and killed him over night and the next morning you woke up and read in the newspaper that he was dead? This is just another accomplishment that Obama can add to his CV.

Osama is past, the present is his legacy, the near future is Al Mahdi. If Osama caused thousands to die, this coming Mahdi will cause hundreds of millions to die. Watch out for this guy. He will be a direct descendant of the most evil one. The works of Osama will pale in comparison.

You honestly think Osama is dead? The photo of the dead man looks nothing like Osama and DUHH!! Of course the photoshopped dead photo will look like Osama! Its called photoshop for a reason. It manipulates the original image to look like the person wanted. Honestly, for all those who do believe that he's dead, you are again victims of pathetic American propoganda. He's alive and beating. This is just a show to give Americans closure for what happened in 9/11. I pitty Americans. You know what..Just keep celebrating and drinking. This seems to be the best and only thing you know how to do. Cheers!

And by the way, 3000 innocent lives were taken in the US because of 9/11 right? How about the 5 million Iraqi lives that were taken by Americans in Iraq since the involvement? And how about the thousands of babies that are born in Falluijah with birth defects since the US decided to use some nuclear bull**it in that area? And thats just in Iraq. Maybe you should look up a list of the US intervention throughout history and see how much blood the US is responsible for.Maybe they should teach you this is schools.

Yeah, yeah, "Egypt."  I'm sure if you say the same thing over and over, you'll find someone ignorant enough to believe it.   I'm guessing you're a personal friend of Osama's, so you know exactly what he looks like today?  Oh, wait, he's dead.  He doesn't look so good today, does he?

Osama's death does NOT bring closure.  The dead are still dead.  Kids are still missing a mom or dad.  What his death brings is justice, and there's one less idiot running around the world.

You do make a point about the gallons of blood shed by our previous administration, which lied to the American people to make war in Iraq.  Had cooler, more intelligent heads been in power, we would have stayed out of Iraq, cleaned up in Afghanistan and gotten Osama years earlier.  To now hear these same idiots claim that the Bush administration should get credit for this is ridiculous.  Dick Cheney et al., you do not have the moral standing to judge anyone or anything.

For now, as I watch the WTC site being slowly rebuilt, I am glad to see Osama gone, and glad to see that we have an administration in power that understands how to coordinate all of the US government agencies and get them to work as one.  That wasn't the case with the last clowns in the White House.

Oh, and "Egypt" ... your apology is accepted.  Thank you.

Unfortunately, you have nothing to say except that I am ignorant. Thats hard to believe since I graduates with a Bachelor of Scienes in 3.5 years being ranked the first in my department and first on the college as a whole. Whose ignorant here then?

It's sickening how we are supposedly better than terrorists yet we are celebrating someone's death just the same as them. Rot in hell? Very poor choice of words. While I believe that he will be in hell (Mat 13:41 among many other references), it is not laughing matter or something to rejoice over.

You are right and wrong Rudy.  We got it done because we are the greatest, the best in the world and we finish what we start.  Obama continued the Bush policies, thank God. Bush should get credit for it !  Obama is a sissy and a wimp a hater of America and an apoligizer for us?  No way should the credit be all his.  All of his term we have heard that every thing, and I mean everything, is Bush's fault.  He doesn't have the gonads to take responsibility for anything on his watch.  Why then should we give him credit now?  Our brave Seal team and all our Service members get the credit, They are the best.  Obama is a joke now and forever.

Clearly, there has been more media attention to this matter than was necessary. Because the media's reactions these days are out of proportion to most events, someone who should have been burried and done with like the trash he was, got all kinds of attention.

Obama is not the kind of fellow who takes pride or joy in the death of anyone. However, there are many people who deserved to know the fate of the man who was responsible for taking the lives of their family members in New York, WA and Pennsylvania, not to mention the soldiers who have sacrificed their health and or lives in the Middle East.

Hopefully, the news of this event will break the back of organizations of those who would kill all over the world to further their misguided idea of what God wants.

Let us be rededicated to the goal of peaceful, honorable relations around the world, keeping in mind that we don't want to experience another Bin Laden.

Bin Laden was either killed a while back and preserved for this moment where popular opinion polls show in a decline in Barrack support. What better way to regain the faith and trust of Americans then to have it announced that Bin Laden has been killed. The other thought is this is staged propaganda and in actuality Bin Laden is still alive and well in hiding. Releasing photos now seems a little late considering all the Photo-shop technology we possess where photos can be doctored to look like anything we want the public to see and believe. Buried at sea and also with expedience to honor Muslim culture.....why would we even consider, let alone follow thru with Muslim Tradition regarding burials with Bin Laden.....considering he was unanimously perceived as the Devil Incarnate?

Just a thought of a conspiracy theory for you to look at and perhaps swallow cautiously in whatever the media is presenting to the American people and the rest of the world!!!! News can be altered and manipulated to suit the time at hand by those in positions of ultimate power.

                                    THANK YOU, JOHN McCAIN!

I think that John McCain's part in the killing of OBL has been completely overlooked by the media. He constantly said in the 2008 presidential campaign that he knew how to find OBL and he knew how to take him out. McCain assured us that he had the knowledge of how to do this, and, when elected, he would take care of it. So, I'm grateful that John McCain finally shared this information with Obama two and a half years into his presidency so that the POTUS could finally implement McCain's plan. Thank you, John McCain. You're a great American. LMAO
