Honghu Lake, China's seventh-largest freshwater lake, is suffering from the worst drought in 70 years, having received just 144 millimetres of rainfall from Jan. 21 to May 21 this year, only 21 percent of the amount recorded during the same period last year, according to Chen Gang, chief engineer of the flood control and drought relief headquarters of Honghu city.
