And the 9-11 attacks were "legal". I know of know war that is legal. War is a unfortunately needed evil to keep peace (oxymoron 0f course). I grew up with may father at war most of the time, no matter how you feel about what the war is about, you have to support our troops, I agree with gderk, please stand behind or troops or feel free to satnd in front of them.
I cannot begin to imagine the fear and horror his mother will feel when she views these pictures. He's just a kid. I pray that he recovers totally.
He is doing quite well, and was very cheerful at the hospital in Germany a few days after the mission.
Thank GOd Lance Cpl Blas Trevino is doing well. I was looking at the faces of our soldiers and the emotion that they show broke my heart. They are running on pure adrenaline and fear. I have a brother who has done two tours and is now going back for a third tour and he is fearful but he loves his men and I know he would rather die than let one of his men die. I support our troops and pray for them daily. Lord I plead Psalm 91 over all of our military men, women and families. Bless them and guide them. In Jesus name I pray. Thank you to all of our military men, women and their families for my freedom and my families. Thank you again.

Iraq was the questionable war not Afganistan. Not sure how he's a god by getting wounded and surviving, but then I'm sure you've never been on any side of a shooting war. Get over yourself, do something to help whichever side you support or shut up.

Our soldiers go into battle because they are asked to defend our country. There was a bumper sticker around in the 1970s that I remember. It said "America - Love it or Leave it". I interpreted this at the time as a political statement. It wasn't until I started working around the world in places that don't have safe water, electricity is scarce, and people running around wanting to kill you that I appreciated my little part of America. The next time you decide to need something at Home Depot or decide to drive through an In-and-Out Burger I suggest you strap on a jet pack and fly to a central African country. You will be crying for America in 30 seconds. You have it good here in America even if you think you don't.

Sara you contradict yourself within your own comment out of ignorance. You really should research what you comment about prior......an all volunteer force is exactly that, an ALL volunteer force. A mercenary is a person who fights for profit and is "HIRED" to perform military type combat operations for money. You cant be an all volunteer force & a mercenary force. A little education will last you a long time, try it.
While I do question the motivation for our government for entering into conflict with Iraq. I must support the effort in Afganistan. But the bottom line is that when these Men and Women give an oath to support our Country/Government it comes without conditions.. They are duty bound to follow orders. If they don't agree with their orders they are free to go upon compleation of that oath. This may sound antiquated to you, but there are plenty of people that still value Duty and Honor. Perhaps you should direct your outrage via the vote or other political instruments. Because making blanket statements only makes you look foolish and serves no purpose other than sturing people up and generating negitive feelings. Unless that is your goal, I think you should reconsider you statements.

We did our job in Afghanistan. The people there have to take care of their own country. Now it is time to leave. We need our troops here to guard our borders which are porous.

Sure, we only went into Afghanistan after 9/11, and because of self-interest, but if there was any war that was just, it is Afghanistan after what the Taliban has done. If it had been up to me we should have gone in in 96. Their treatment of women alone is enough cause to use military force to oust them. And, NO sara, these Marines are NOT mercenaries in any sense of the word. If you are going to throw accusations out, please at least get your definitions correct. Being anti-war is fine (only psychos are "pro" war), but it's unfair, ignorant, and insulting to say nasty things about military personnel. No, the same group of terrorists that have attacked American citizens are in places like Afghanistan and Pakistan. And if we don't go after them they will come back again and kill more people. If you were educated, you might know something about the Posse Comitatus Act - which prohibits the US military from acting as a police force within the borders of the USA. Your ignorance of manners and knowledge of the US history and laws is frightening. My son is in the air force and I'm proud of him as a person. But if he goes to one of our many (official or unofficial) wars or gets stationed at one of our bases across 134 countries, it will not be because he wants to go but because our politicians order him to go to cover up their own diplomatic failures and sustain their corporate sponsors' greed. War is profitable, if it was not, corporate pressure would stop it. My son did not join the military because he wanted to protect us from people who want to rid themselves of our military bases that's the real reason Al Qaede attacked us, just read their hundreds of announcements. And he did not join to give his life to protect the flow of oil so we can drive longer distances from our suburban homes. He joined because that was his only realistic choice at this time with this economy. So please spare us from all the pseudo-patriotic propaganda. Corporations may have fooled you into believing our kids are fighting to protect "our freedoms" but some of us can see the hand behind the curtain!
