I wrote this piece as a writing excercise using the Write or Die website as a writing tool. It is unedited, using the photo I tried creating a piece using it. Here it is.
As the boy rest in the trike (short for tricycle), motorbike with a roofed sidecar the country just survived from a weekend worth of rain. Oddly enough the name of the typhoon was not even appropriate. People was expecting a major flood just like "Ondoy" over a year ago. A lot of folks went missing or died at that terror of a typhoon. And most places that was hit by Ondoy is still re building itself, and with this new storm the expectation of a great flood seems like a norm nowadays. The boy slept soundly in the trike sleeping at the small seat which is doubled as a secondary seat inside the sidecar, as his sleepy self still unmoved other kids were at play and seems not bothered by it. The weather was better than yesterday, rain has stopped and the flood as subsided, and some folks who seeked refuge still stayed at the refugee centers provided by the local government. Some folks went back to their daily tasks, going to work, school or whatever there is to do. Considered as a "third-world" country, the Philippines survived many floods and storms even at this day and age in the 21st century the country has seen many storms and floods and survived, just like the Japanese people when Japan got hit by a great tsunami a few month ago. As the boy still sleep, the country moved on, never looking back and managed themselves for a better future.
