I can't look at these pictures for more than a moment. Anyone who wants to comment on politics or religion in this thread needs to take a long, hard look inside, and change the way they think. Beautiful, young children killed for ideology not of their making, what could be worse?

Where is the outcry to abolish Christian Churches? Why aren't Christians being shunned in Norway?

I taught high school for nearly 30 years. I feel I know the children and the adults who are pictured here as beloved students and colleagues. I am praying for their families and friends. There is no comprehending this tragedy.

Another radical right wing extremist opened fire in a unitarian church where I live. Three people were killed. This nut had the same kind of idealogy as that Brievik SOB. He was driven to commit the hate crime from all the flood of hate from Beck, Rush, and others who preach their brand of political extremism. Norway, USA, Afghanistan, these sick twisted individuals are no better than the political terrorists in Iraq.

My heart is rent asunder by the actions of this madman. These children gave their lives for the sick twisted mental machinations of one single individual. May God bless and keep these children and the children of our world. They are our future. From my time in the US Army I spent 25 years of my youthful life with a curiosity about military chemistry, explosives and all of these areas of technology but never in my most disturbed dreams did I consider the use of these areas of technnology against the defenseless. This would be madness in itself. I can understand a man throwing the grenade of a fanatic back at that man but I will never understand the mowing down of innocent, defenseless people especially children most of all. There is no rational or moral statement to be made with this sort of action. I know that there is a special place in Hell for this kind of personality. These people, the Judeo-Christian and the Islamic fanatics particularly, are what we have allowed to breed among ourselves as nations and it is our obligation to ourselves to isolate them or put an end to them if necessary. I myself have been persecuted for decades by our Justice system and the FBI (mostly out of suspicion) and I believe that I have taken things in good stride. Very likely I was on their "watch list" long before the public itself was made aware of such a list. I was never allowed decent employment in my own nation and in fact have been allowed few close personal relationships. Still even with this isolation and ostracism (internal exile) that I have endured over the decades I have never entertained seriously the notion of murder against my own kind (human kind). Every person has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in life. I have always subscribed to these things. I would tell you this: If you want to pray to something, pray to God (the father of all of us). Don't pray to science or technology, don't pray to people, don't pray to knowledge or your own ideas, don't pray to paper or coin. In the end all of these things will fall away and be found lacking in your life. Be a humble person, assume nothing, malign nothing, sully nothing. Enjoy the fruits that Gods life has given you. Enjoy life for what it is. A great gift. We came from the great "all that there is" and in the end (individually and collectively) we will only return to the great "all that there is".

JrzWrd #17 - I soooo agree with a life sentence of solidary confinement...just let him have nothingness. Personally, I have read just about enough of his luantics. He is making me suffer just looking into the eyes of these helpless human beings.

A heart breaking and tragic loss of such enormity. My deepest sympathy to the families and friends of these beautiful souls and to the entire nation of Norway. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. You are in our hearts .May God heal you and be with you at such overwhelming and difficult times. From an American Muslim in the heartland of USA.

This is so sad to think that this senseless brutality happened for what? I can comprehend killing an animal for food, but to kill a helpless innocent child just breaks my heart. God has never really had a place in my heart, but these poor kids forever will. One of these children could have found a cure for all cancer, or a way to end world hunger. I am half a world away but yet very deeply affected. We as humans rely on doctors to keep us living as long as possible in our times of sickness or old age and this killer just did the exact opposite. Another painful memory in all of our lives.

The one thing(of many) I see in these pictures, is that it could be my son or daughter or yours. And, well, it scares the crap out of me. My heart goes out to all the families. This was/is truly a very sick person. This is very, very depressing.

These were young, vibrant kids with the whole world in their hands. God bless them all. And their families.

 My heart goes out to all the families who lost loved ones.  As a mother I cannot fathom how you wake up each day and go on.  If anything can be learned from these tragic killings, it is that extremists in any group or religion are dangerous people.  Sadly, it is doubtful that people like this killer are still around.  We can only pray they have a change of heart and also be very diligent when we hear or see people behave as this young man did.

These families are in my prayers. 

God if you can hear me, please, please help the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grandparents, friends, etc. of these victims cope with this horrific and unimaginable grief! Please please help them. I can't even begin to imagine the absolute desolation, pain and grief of losing my children. So many young lives just wasted for nothing!!!!! God Please help and comfort those left behind. So many children, just lost, babies gone just like that!! Why?

Living in Wisconsin... everyone here, including myself, is of Norwegian decent. These pictures of those that were lost look like people that live around me here in WI. It makes it feel closer to home.

 This puts faces on those who were murdered. You Beck fans take a good look.

Seeing the happy and smiling faces of these poor kids makes me want to go and beat that human piece of trash to death. Why don't they just tell everyone there they will release him in the middle of the city at a specific time and let the people deal with him. He is not a psycho. He is just a spineless coward that had to target innocent kids because if he showed up where there were adults he would not have lasted to long.

Its as heartbreaking as 9/11 and just as shocking, words cannot describe such waste of beautiful life, none of these kids nor adults deserved to die like this, in each photo there is that youthful outlook of wonder and expectation, damn....it's as though they were sacrificed to some evil blood thirsty god. I pray the moments before their death was not painful, but I think many did experience extreme freight and the sting of death, its sad to think they didn't even have a chance to say good byes to anyone they loved especially parents and siblings. But, just how was this massacre of major proportions carried out by one deranged person? It doesn't make sense, nothing describes the timing in all this, how did he manage to kill so many people in and out of the water so fast! Plus how did he manage blowing out every floor of a huge building in the other location? With every window obviously blown out, it looks like implosions went off on every floor, are we to believe its just a mystery......seriously? How does one person accomplish all of this mass destruction without so much as a tell tale suspicious advance preperation? The press is derelict in not getting indepth facts, why?

Such love, hope and humanity in their faces. Dont' let their lives go in vain.
