Members of the military during a special naturalization ceremony aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle in Brooklyn, New York, August 5. Ten members of the military representing eight countries and all five branches of the military became new citizens of the United States during the event.

Man, this sux (yes I can spell the word). Why don't they report real news and deport these posers?
Those "posers" are part of the US military, which fights for your freedom daily. They have already laid their life on the line for all of us and this country and they're making a specific choice to be citizens, a choice you likely did not make by virtue of the location of your birth. These people want to be citizens of a country they've fought for; they deserve it.
Congratulations and welcome.
I suppose you're from America, Chicago5? A real American could spell "congratulations" right. However, you incorrectly spelled it. Nice try poser. Perhaps you should be deported along with these posers. Good luck studying the English language, poser!
P.S. A military uniform can be bought on a child's allowance, so this doesn't surprise me one bit that these posers have them.
Really? A military uniform can be bought on a childs allowance where?
The last time I looked just the pants on a class A uniform were almost $100.
The JACKET on a class A Army Green uniform can be $200 and up, and each of
the uniform stores demand a military ID, since 9/11. What makes you think that Military uniforms are less expensive than CIVILIAN Jackets. Are you just incredibly stupid, or are you working on stupid as a talent you want to perfect?
Are you one of those men who took off to Canada or elsewhere when I got drafted. You should be greatful and thankful that they support and defend you.
And by the way... A real American would never make comments like yours.....you are a coward.....how many people have you sued lately......
Wowzers - yup, is a real word Vote at Sixteen....not sure where you learned to spell tho you will allow me to state..."your grammar sux". A real American could spell "congratulations" correctly. However, you spelled it incorrectly. Sheer curiosity....how do you spell congratulations...please don't say it is with a 'd'.....
Indeed poser, who is the poser now.....glass houses and all - you are acquainted with the story (as am I with this comment LOL).
Nice statement Chicago5 tho don't waste your time - would appear this particular poser can't be taught - particularly in this case when this particular poser knows it all.
To these fine men and women, welcome to our family - these United States of America. My sincerest thank you for your service to our - your - country. God Bless you.
Suing people is a American National pastime like baseball. The suing game was started by Americans.
And when you were drafted I enlisted in the USMC,probably there before you.
These guys are mercenaries working for money and citizenship.
Bring back the DRAFT for everybody.
I'm not going to bother entertaining "how do you spell..." The dictionary is a useful tool. You should pick it up sometime, if you can read. Of course, that might be too challenging, so just stick to spelling it incorrectly. What makes you think that I wasn't drafted and in service? What makes you think that I didn't become a citizen first, then join the military? The issue isn't with the military. I was one of those protecting the so-called "rights" probably before most of you were born. The issue is immigrants in the military. Many in my family did things the right way when it came to military service: they first became U.S. citizens, then became members of the military. I was already a citizen, and so were many people in my family. Perhaps you all should check your facts first before casting stones. Oh, and as to where was I during the draft? I was proudly serving the nation, but not as a draftee. I was already in, thank you very much. We were just joined by many of those already drafted. I just hope they can fix this debt problem and really help support the real veterans. We owe them that much. Thanks for giving me the chance to clarify, and the chance to showcase your own ignorance. Perhaps the draft should be returned, so we can get actual U.S. citizens to serve in the military. Also, your welcome for thanking us veterans for our service. That really means a lot to us, and to all the supporters of veterans past and present, and to the current members of the armed forces. Thank you.
Service in the military as a path to citizenship has been in option, and an honorable one, for a long time. I served with men and women like these and was proud to do so. These people deserve respect for their service no less than anyone else.
Vote At Sixteen: As Mustang Marine stated, immigrants who enter the armed forces can become citizens after a duration of time. This is nothing new--I know for a fact that at Anzio, in 1944, there was a ceremony during the battle for several soldiers who became citizens of the United States while serving in the Army.
It should not matter why these individuals decided to enter the military; until they became citizens, they were putting their lives on the line for a nation that wasn't theirs, right alongside servicemen and -women who were citizens of the US. The fact that they did so anyway speaks volumes to their character.
Vote at Sixteen: our family - immigrants as were they all - fought in the Revolutionary War (am a registered member of the DAR - Blue Star Mothers too:)) and we've had family members serve in all wars and conflicts - as did our brother, our son and now my nephew - since then.
I absolutely agree with Mustang Marine and Kyle-2158915 and so shant repeat their messages.
What a shame - how sad - you are apparently unable to celebrate with these new members of our country. You've nothing to prove to me or anyone else tho you certainly sound angry and threatened. That said, my sincerest thanks to you for your service to our country. Congratulations on a job well done.
