The Palio horse race frequently produces dramatic images, and this year's race was no exception. It looks like the medics are given a front row seat.

Horses from the rival contrade (teams) of Snail (L), Caterpillar (C) and Wold at San Martino compete in the traditional Palio horse race at the Il Campo square in the Tuscan city of Siena on August 16. The Palio race is held twice a year in Siena and jockeys ride bareback around a makeshift track set up in the city's central square.

Are the horses all uninjured? This is animal cruelty.
