Thirst for victory by Williams, Simpson ends U.S. title droughts

Moments after missing his inconsequential final attempt in the high jump, Jesse Williams ran around the back end of Daegu Stadium looking a little like Jim Valvano as he sought out an American flag to begin a proper celebration. 

When Jenny Simpson crossed the finish line ahead of the pack in the women's 1500m, her arms weren't raised in triumph, but her eyes bulged out of her head and her mouth was agape in total disbelief of what had just transpired.

Well, believe it.
