I think even though it took a long time to complete, it is extraordinary and very beautiful. I think it depicts so many things to so many people and it makes a hopefully longlasting memorial to all those who died there. America can be very proud of it. Also other memorials that have been made for both the Pentagon and Shankesville, PA.

Good Bless all the families of our lost ones and i hope that we all have faith in our god our heavenly father that he will be with us in our trials and goood and bad situations we go through.....Our god is with our lost ones and there trials and no matter were we go or we are at they will be watching us from above and protect us and we will have them in our hearts and in ur dreams...Psalm 46 1:11 God is our refuge and strenght, an ever-present help in trouble. therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of god, the holy place where the most high dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, Kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the god of jacob is our fortress. Come and see the works of the lord, the desolations he has brought on the earth. he makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire. Be still, and know that i am god; i will be exalted among the nations, i will be exalted in the earth." The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of jacob is our fortress.

For something so Almighty I'm surprised He allowed so much death & destruction, suffering, saddness & pain.

Oh that's right: God works in mysterious and wonderous ways...........indeed. Killing innocent men, women and children is indeed mysterious and anything but wonderous.

Mankind has been and continues to be an idiot to think Religion is our salvation.

The memorial is beautiful! I'm glad it was done. It was deserved for all of those who lost their lives. I hope to make it to New York one day to see it. And I agree with Ms. Peart. America can, and should be very proud of it.

The memorial should have included the name of the ninteen hijackers who were responsible for this 9-11 tragedy, just to show our human grace and humility - afterall they also shared their lives on this planet and their time with us, no matter how inhuman and heinous their actions happened to be. Forgiveness is the greatest virtue!

I agree the hijackers/murderers names should be present at the memorial, but engraved on the edge of the abyss going to hell.

    @Madandev, NO WAY dude!!!

You keep your Forgiveness thing to yourself, the rest of us will never forgive the truly evil.

Even God will not forgive the Devil and let him back into the Heavens.

Sorry! The names of the 19 hijackers and murderers have NO PLACE in this memorial! Their names don't deserve the dignity of mention. You cannot say 'Holy' and 'War' in the same sentence and you cannot - CANNOT - KILL in the name of GOD!

Madandev - Without a doubt the names of those individuals are enshrined somewhere in another place on the planet... Again, without a doubt, a place that you deserve to live. If you don't already... By all means, feel free to pack your bags and get gone!

why dont you put the nineteen names on a plaque in your house........your idea is so disrespectful to the families of victims. They were rotten human beings who were brainwashed to believe that their actions would bring them to allah, any human who has no regard for life let alone over the 3000 lifes they took that day does not deserve forgiveness......I may forgive you if you reconsider your statement.

Excluding these despicable pieces of trash in no way robs them of their humanity, or ceases to exercise the beauty of ours. We don't need to subtract this filth in order to dehumanize them ... they've done that quite well on their own.

Theocratic thugs of all stripes and all faiths are a burden we've all carried for far too long. When mankind finally realizes the pettiness of our certitudes, then and only then we will discover anything even remotely resembling grace or freedom.

Forgiveness is from God an he tells us to forgive for we can heal,we do it so that person or persons evil act want have control over us.They were wrong completely wrong and they DONOT deserve a place on the 911 memorial but we should forgive them you forgive the person not the sin.DONOT be like them an try to be God let God pass judgement not us.

          #5.14 - Mon Sep 12, 2011 1:05 PM EDT

"forgiveness" assumes some note of remorse ... these hijackers took pride in their actions. They didnt' WANT forgiveness, it wasn't sought nor should it be granted. These men hate us, that is why they seek to destroy us. Yes we are to "forgive or enemies" but this memorial is not the place to do that. This is a public place of remembrance, to heal, to unite, to strenghten. Please don't use this spot to spread more hatred. This memorial is beautiful and its meaning is truly significant and will have a lasting impact on many lives. Lets give it the respect it is meant to have and not blasphemy it with hatred or talk of the hijackers any more. I wish the overseers of this site would just erase this whole conversation from this site.

I am a survivor of 9-11. I didn't leave downtown for two weeks after the towers fell, and every morning I was at ground zero feeding workers.

I agree with Joe, and many other New Yorkers do to. We are not ignorant nationalists. New York is the capital of the WORLD. DC is the capital of the nation.

A true patriot would look into Joe's claims, and would find, that in deed, we were bombing them for years, before they attacked us, and indeed this government trained Bin Laden. Get control of your country. This is not freedom. Our government kills innocent people. You call that freedom?

Good for you Joe. Stand up America and hold your government responsible for these wars. Our country has gone broke. Spent all it's money on bullets.

Joe, your obviously an ignorant moron, thank God you are not one of our leaders as you would have our military sitting around the USA playing cards while these barbaric countries plot their schemes, grow in strength and try to destroy us. You idiot, your the type that still needs to realize that we need to prevent these animals from strengthening and attacking us, they are living here in the USA just waiting for the ability to take us down. You should move over there, your doing us no good here.

The only reason we bombed these F***ERS in the first place is because they thougt they were better than us AMERICANS and tried to F**k with us. Running the world is our job and teaching them the values of being an american...not the life of being a inconsiderate human being that has no care in the world. We dont send our americans anywhere to sacrafice there lives for a belief..cause we are one nation that is very proud..and let it be known that u can never take down on our EMPIRE!

pride comes before the fall.... many people are/were and continue to be wrong.... "let he who is without sin be the first to cast a stone"... we must forgive and know that God is greater than all of us and everything.... hate and unforgiveness is like a cancer.... if you want peace, it must start within you first.... pray... we all need it.... God is good and everything happens for a reason.... believe and have faith... God will provide and heal if you allow Him too.... these negative words that i am reading are only a further insult to those who have paid the ultimate price... continuing the hate doesn't allow peace or healing for anyone... are any of these blogs/comments being posted encouraging, up-lifting, or edifying to anything or anyone? think about it.... peace begins with you and every second of every minute, you have the option to choose it... let not those deaths be in vain.... show that you have learned something from it and be a light to those who are still in darkness.... God bless all of the survivors.... God is with you... He is with all of us.... and thank God that those who died physically are living eternally with Him and are much better off than we are...

You blame the US for all that is wrong and that we have kiilled so many - Let me ask you is the world a better place because Countries like ours would like World Peace. You point your finger at the US for all that is wrong in the world and that we have sinned per se for trying to create world peace. Here is a direct comment to you - Let those who are without sin cast the first stone......... What's the matter is your pitching arm broken - or are you human???? I am very ashamed and embarrassed that many of you could write such hateful things. This comment section was suppose to be positive and to reflect moving forward in America's future to endure freedom, integrity and endurance of harsh things of the past that make us stronger. Yes I believe in the freedom of speech but please do it respectfully somewhere else. God Bless and be with those familie that lost more than we will ever know. This is why America was in such a bad place back on Sept 11th 10 years ago, because there were hatefull people out there to do something so extreme.....I'm sure somewhere it started with simple but painful words.

I am dissapointed when I read words of hate on a site that should be about peace. We see the result of hate each time we see a photo or mention of 9/11. I am even reminded each time I see a police car or emergency vehicle displaying the 911 emergency number. This will always be with those that experienced it directly and indirectly.

We must all try to understand why all this hatred began and move to end it. If we do not, I am sad to say it will eventually lead us to our end. Look at America today if you do not understand what I am trying to say.

WE THE PEOPLE are very powerful words given to us by our founding Fathers & Mothers. Were these peolpe more intelligent & moral than WE are today. If so WE are headed in the wrong direction. We have given up our power to those that run OUR government because WE do not vote and when WE do WE vote for the wrong people. WE must take back OUR Country for the benefit of OUR children and put an end to the hatred the world has for America.

O Christ, beneath the fallen stones; Nailed fast to twisted bars of steel; And slain in flesh and blood and bones; Pierced by the fear all mortals feel. Arise from ash and dust and death, And breathe into crushed hearts new breath.

O Christ, among the wreckage shorn; Of hope for those who lie there dead; Yet bathed in sweat of labors borne; To free the grieving from their dread. Arise from our despair's long night, And pour upon us living Light!

O Christ, within a world at war; Where love and hate fight for the soul. And all sights trained on death see far; But only Love can see the whole. Arise from unforgiving pain, And teach us how to love again!

Insted they should have made the "twin towers" or World Trade Centers again as a replica of the two original towers plus, the memorial of the towers. Not Just a bigger tower! I mean, come on I this is the least they can do, the most they can do is made an exact replica of the towers in memory of the real original ones. But it is nice of them to make a beutiful memorial for the ones that died and for the memory of the towers. I actally think they left some of the pieces of the original towers there! Also, I actally thought before there wasn't a memorial! Because, I had been to the place where the new tower stands, but the memorial was on the other side! And, I actually just found out today on the news which was channel 40, CNN from the Tv! Anyways, I am at least thankful that they had made a memorial for the people that died and for the memory of the towers.

Those two holes should be the foundations of the new improved WTC buildings. I believe those who died that day would want that. The memorial could be included inside the rebuilt buildings - maybe as part of the lobby.

Bring back the WTC! Anything less is a victory to the terrorists.

Today, September 11th, has been a dark and difficult day for Americans, coast to coast. Everywhere I turn, I hear "God Bless America." America is a choice land above all…. However, for "God to continue blessing America"; Americans must remember God is merciful, but he is just. Americans cannot ask for continued blessings from God on September 11th, and forget to acknowledge or praise God the rest of the days. Our forefathers knew this… It's about time Americans got their priorities straight; or expect more September 11ths, without help from above….Just some food for thought, folks......

Religion is what caused 9/11 in the first place. If your god was merciful and loving it wouldn't let millions of innocent people die every year.

I agree that the memorial should have been two new beautiful buildings not some watery hole in the ground, its a shame we got a mosque sooner then a wtc. I do not agree that God 'lets' millions of people die. We were blessed with this unbelieveably gorgeous planet, warts and all, and we will be judged on how well or how poorly we handle it and each other.

For most of us it is difficult to understand the unbelievable loss of that day. I worked and raised my son in a town of about 3000. The next time one passes through a city of about that population, imagine the city being obliterated with every citizen losed and the city leveled. This is one way I can put this into perspective. Innocent people and children intentional killed in the name of these fanatics God. These were inteligent people and I find it truly amazing and scary how they were manipulated and used for the purpose of one man. This is not war it is more like a higher degree of serial killer.

Why would God not want to reveal himself to anyone who asks. Americans are hated in many countries and religion is man made and not always from God. One has to understand that these are fanatics that one will find in many facets of religion. God has a counter part that works hard. He is the great deceiver Satan. Please just ask him to show you and if you are earnest in your request I believe you will find him.

The names of the hihjackers are there... engraved on the urinals so we can piss on them every time we read their names.

two things: muslim countries want non-muslims out of their land. this means saudi arabia and the rest of the middle east. they do not want american aid. they believe in rule of religious law of sharia (based off qur'an), not democracy which is a western ideal and concept. second, the hijackers of these planes had their families paid off handsomely as restitution for giving their lives. this just goes to show how wealth disparity can create a monster. you people are emotional fools who just want to feel sorry for someone rather than think out how to prevent such events.
