President Clinton left office with a balanced budget. I do not know why this same fact needs repeating over and over again but Bush and his tax cuts caused the "recession, not President Obama. The US Senate has not passed a budget in over 850 days! Too bad Sharon Angle didn't win.

Dems had control of both houses of congress from 2006 to 2010 before the midterm elections and had rung up 5 trillion in debt in 4years. The recession started when? The school I went to taught me that we have a democracy. With that being said, the GOP now has control of 1/2 of 1/3 of the federal government. But we don't need to blame Bush, Tea Party and the GOP. We can blame the Arab spring, the earthquake in Japan, the uprisings in the middle east, Europe economic woes, anything but tax, borrow & spend and not necessarily in that order policies. I am sure am proud to be a terrorist, hostage taking son-of-a-bitch registered republican as I have been called. I almost forgot about being a scab because I won't pay union dues to support a political cause I don't agree with and have no choice about it. Let's try this: Cut the Bush tax breaks for wealthy, increase import taxes on American corporations manufacturing overseas, and give those tax breaks to American corporations that stay here and employ Americans. Also, fund grants for laid-off workers to re-educate themselves in the skilled trades. Doesn't make sense that an out-of-work American will complain about losing his/her line worker job rather than take the initiative to re-educate themselves for what is available here in the USA. Not waiting for their line job to come back from Indonesia, Viet Nam, etc.

Most of the costs of the bailout was paid back but the most of the costs of the two wars Bush started were not included in his deficits. Obama is being honest about the actual spending and that's one of the reasons his deficits look worse.

That's total crap. Bush didn't meet a spending bill he didn't like until 2007 -- never vetoed a single one. Bush didn't pay for his tax cuts, his two wars, his prescription drug bill, his farm bill or his largest expansion of government since LBJ.

Only if you look at the period between 1994 and 1999 after the Republicans gained control of Congress, kept Clinton from overspending and limited regulations. Even with that, the economy tanked in his final year with the tech sector collapse and the Nasdaq going from 5500 to 1500 in just a matter of six months. If the economy hadn't gone into recession, VP Al Gore would have been a shoo-in like Bush Sr did following Reagan.
