A 360 degree view of the Occupy Wall Street encampment at Zuccotti Park

For nearly a month the Occupy Wall Street protesters have been camping in Zuccotti park, but that may change soon. Mayor Bloomberg has announced that cleaning crews will soon begin to clean the park and that protesters will be allowed to return as the work is completed.

The panorama image above was taken on Oct. 11 and consists of over 75 images stitched together with software to represent an immersive view of Zuccotti Park.

Even though these people are not homeless I'm surprised real homeless people aren't there. They are giving away home cooked meals & a free shave. If I were homeless I'd be living there everyday just to get the cooked meals.

got this from a Friend:

The world's largest army... America 's hunters! I had never thought about this....
A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:
There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin .
Allow me to restate that number..
Over the last several months, Wisconsin 's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.
More men under arms than in Iran .
More than in France and Germany combined.
These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.
That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home.
Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that
the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.
(4 states = 2.3 million hunters).
Just think if they added in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, the Southern states & out West

The point?
America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.
Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.
*************************************************
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.
Food for thought when next we consider gun control

Ever since Gulf War I, our military has greatly advanced their abilities to fight at night -- in pitch black. I don't see hunters up against night fighters with indirect firing capabilities and air strikes going very far.

And if you think there would be solidarity amongst all of these hunters, especially between States, you're deluding yourself.

Give me a break.

@Rob-- go tell your friend that 3 million people playing basketball doesnt make an NBA, 4 million people playing football doesnt make an NFL, 75 million people driving cars doesnt make a NASCAR race and surely a bunch of rednecks with guns doesnt make an army. You need smarter friends

I think everybody missed Rob's point. Not only are there millions of experienced hunters in the U.S., there are also millions more who own and practice with firearms for personal protection and"other" reasons.

I go to the range regularly with my hand guns. No Soros-backed street rabble are going to intimidate me. And I doubt seriously if our armed forces will be taking up arms against their families and friends if and when the poop hits the Westinghouse. They will be headed home to protect their own.

Hi Pugface, Rob has no point to make. In modern warfare big armies don't matter, with smart weapons, long range artillery, missiles and nuclear bombs that theory is moot. Nevermind a bunch inbreed beer belly 'hunters". The only thing they may accomplish is lead poisoning, with all that shooting going on & all. Happy Hunting!!

Dan: I've heard that before. Look at Afghanistan. Those people have only small arms and have kicked the butt of every country that has decided to take them on. We've been there 10 years and we are still fighting. The Soviets did their best and had to run home. Before that it was the Brits, etc, etc... If a fighter will not give up it matters not how much firepower one has. A fighter who will not surrender is invincible no matter if the weapon is a rifle or civil disobedience. In the end it's not a matter of firepower, it's a matter of will and perseverance. That so many are willing to put their butts on the line to fight for what they believe in is a good thing. Conflict is as inevitable as victory to those with the drive to make positive change happen.

Well Mel - if the private sector was doing it's "job creator" job then they would be able to get a job. But even though those "job creators" have been getting the "job creator" tax cuts for over 10 years now they still aren't "job creators". The are "job killers" as they killed American jobs for the past decade and moved them offshore which padded the profits at the top and left us with a bigger unemployment issue which slowed consumerism in the US which killed more US jobs. But the top 1% were able to rake in record profits and a growth in personal wealth over that same decade.

So when the Wall Street "job creators" start doing the "job" that they have been getting massive tax breaks for a decade even though they weren't doing their "job" then maybe these people can "get a job". Until then, you can keep making mindless comments based on stupidity.

Comrade, I am in total agreement, Our own Government are the ones killing small business and the job market, it is a shame and should be criminal that while a small business owner slowly succumbs to the over tax and regulate em till they drop Obama administration, your money , my money goes to Solyndra, a rush before the dealine saw another huge bag O cash given to Nancy Pelosi's brother in law and his solar outfit. If the Fed's would get out of the way and let the market do what it does best without additional Federal Government ham stringing we would be going back to work, yet Obama relentlessly continues to do his best to destroy the private sector, to squash small business by more and more regulations, we must rise up and rid the country of this infestation of socialist's in our Government. Hope issues work out for you. I personally am still lucky enough to have a job but have taken a 28% pay reduction this year just to be able to keep a job.

You have to understand that the Occupy Wall Street crowd wouldn't know how to start or run a business. They have been programmed to look to the government for all their needs. They want socialism, Greek style, big Nanny government to take care of them, which the progressive democrats and unions will be more than happy to do...for a price. Self reliance is anathema to them, all must be the same, controlled and directed by the higher authorities. No real direction or demands, merely mouthing slogans and ultimately looking to be cared for.

Note how they aren't protesting Washington, interesting isn't it. They are clueless as to where the real power resides. It lies with the bought and paid for crony politicans, and until those people are addressed, this occupy Wall Street is nothing but street theater.

But in retrospect the dumbest part of this whole action...the protesters were not asked to vacate by the company so in a victory lap they decided to take a celebratory victory lap and leave to march down the street and throw bottles. What is up with that?

Also, many of those people have a life outside of this protest and come and go so while you don't see the 10's of thousands there, there are ten's of thousands protesting around the nation. No one wants a handout, they just want promises kept. Where are the jobs your Tea Party Express congress ran on in the 2010 mid-terms? Not ONE real jobs bill brought forth by them. Not one!

U.S. elections are now and have long been a sham, and they will only continue to degenerate thanks to the preposterous Citizens United Supreme Court decision. There is no meaningful difference between the Republicans and Democrats and has not been at any time in the modern era; to vote Democrat is merely to enable to the continuance of our long, dark slide into the depths of the dismal Right, where corporations hold more rights than humans, and the common good is sacrificed for the ever-growing profits of the Elite. Any person who willingly identifies himself as a Democrat or Republican, and votes accordingly, is a part of the problem, and should be held accountable.

        My two cents on this:

        1) For being so "oppressed" and held back by the wall street billionaires, these protesters sure have some high-end clothes and gear.

2)If they are spending day and night out here protesting, who is watching their children, their pets, their homes/apartments? How are their bills being paid?

If I worked for the unemployment office I would be down there taking pics and reporting those who are protesting instead of "actively job seeking". Fair is fair.

You say all these negative things about people who are willing to stand up to the blood suckers who have sucked the country dry. You are slaves to a system where the wealthy calls all the shots and you simply sit back and say nothing. You can agree or disagree with the protestors tactics, but they have balls which evidently a lot of you do not have. This reminds me so much of the sixties where everytime someone stood up and protested things they considered wrong they became enemies of the state. i servewd this country for 20 years in the militaqry, but now i am ashamed of the course the country has taken. The course seems to be let's give the rich more when they have already sucked the country dry, stole a lot of peoples life savings, and trust the world's economy into recession. some of you need to remember,"If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything."

I support the right of ALL Americans to voice their opinion and protest when they believe it is appropriate. That is one of our most fundamental rights and I think it is a shame to read posts denigrating or ridiculing what these protesters are doing. I believe, however, that if it wasn't for the threats issued by state and local governments and the attention given by the media the OWS protests would have fizzled out by now.

If the OWS protests are an attempt to counter the Tea Party that is, unfortunately, too little too late. The OWS protesters are today where the TP was two years ago, trying to find a clear and coherent message from among a disorganized crowd that is often protesting without really knowing wht they are protesting against, let alone the ability to offer an alternative. Their biggest problem, however, is that the only message that is getting across is that they are against Wall Street (corporate America and the wealthy) and contrary to what they believe 99% of Americans support capitalism.

So, please explain HOW this protest is changing anything -- I don't really think anyone is listening or taking action with regard to the issues surrounding the protest.

The same way any protest does - by getting people to debate the issue at hand. Look at the comments here. It's working. Everyone who posts here has either joined the protest or a phantom counter-protest whether they intend to or not. Everyone here is listening. Look how much it is in the news. Or how much people around you are talking or even thinking about it. Even those who disagree that the issue is Wall Street are agreeing that there is an issue.

Protest works by moving the people to words, to action, to enacting change.

Remember Kent State? There was a war back then, an unpopular and unethical war fought by men who were drafted into the military. Four died at Kent State. Now, some agitators are hoping to have such a moment, thinking that it will somehow galvanize others into action, of course they won't be in harm's way. Then there are those who foment rebellion for the sake of fomenting rebellion. Always, in situations such as these, there are the opportunists. I hope this remains a peaceful protest, I would hate to see people die or have the protests used as an opportunity to incite clashes that would entail martial law.

Having lived a while on this earth, I have concluded there are those who take and those who give. The givers work hard, take care of their needs and work a little harder so that they can help others. They never think about taking from others and they are the last to ever ask for help if they will even ever ask for it. This protest is by a bunch of takers with delusions of grandeur that have somehow convinced themselves and the media that what they are doing is good and noble. I know many young people who work hard at tough jobs, raise families with tremendous hardships posed by childhood disease, volunteer to be firefighters and EMT's, and work hard to get politicians to do the right things. These are the people I respect. I do not respect or will I ever support the the wall street protesters. In my opinion they are no different than the corrupt politicians and business people they protest against.

I think these folks would like to become Leavers and they are protesting the Takers. Instead of "make product to get product" they would like to evolve into "serve and be served." It worked for humans for hundreds of thousands of years before agriculturalism introduced power and greed into the system. It also guaranteed cradle to grave security that 99% of people no longer have. Insecurity is driving this movement. Read Dan Quinn.

Olddog, it appears your age has dampered your ability to see clearly.

These people are not "taking" anyting. These people are doing what the Constitution gives them the right to do.

They are protesting a system that has gone wrong. A system that works for a few, but not the majority. A system that is so corrupt that our FF would have burned it down and started over again.

I always get a kick out of the old people who whine about "takers" as they sit at home collecting Social Security and Medicaid and Medicare. Use their senior citizen discount cards, ride the bus and call access for a ride, the bitch about socialism.

These people are doind what you and others don't have the balls to do, stand up and be heard.

They are doing what thousands of Americans fought to give them the right to do.

I think it is great and long over due that the middle class in this country found the guts to stand up.
