GOD'S RETRIBUTION for unjustly putting Americans in jail and not paying for the damages caused by Italy as an Axis power and the killings of hundreds of thousands of people throughout the world!

Jacksonal: So it is also God's retribution when thousands of Americans suffer damage from floods and tornados and other natural disasters? Stop making imaginary links between natural events and your very unhealthy concept of God as some kind of psychotic avenger. At the very least, His timing is badly off, since very few of these people were even alive in WWII.

-back to the flooding in Italy- HOLY CRAP! We had bad flooding this summer in Nebraska, particularly where I live. Entire canyons were full of water and the Platte river was running her banks.. the National Guard had to step in to help everyone out. As far as I know there were no deaths, and certainly no mudslides on such a high category. I really hope everyone over there gets to safety :(

I would like to recommend that car manufacturers price a extra option to foam all the wall compartments of a car body so it will float. Might save some on insurance. LOL

No, floods, drought, severe storms etc alone do not prove Global Warming. The unprecedented amount seen for the last few years may. :)

Floods have nothing to do with global warming

To the contrary, floods and extreme weather events in general have everything to do with climate change. From Scientific American:

Storm Warnings: Extreme Weather Is a Product of Climate Change

So are the floods and spate of other recent extreme events also examples of predictions turned into cold, hard reality?

Increasingly, the answer is yes. Scientists used to say, cautiously, that extreme weather events were "consistent" with the predictions of climate change. No more. "Now we can make the statement that particular events would not have happened the same way without global warming," says Kevin Trenberth, head of climate analysis at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colo.

That's a profound change—the difference between predicting something and actually seeing it happen. The reason is simple: The signal of climate change is emerging from the "noise"—the huge amount of natural variability in weather.

This is ridiculous! Do you realize that the only reason why you see more floods on tv and data is because humans build homes anywhere today ? We are much more today and the medias cover more too, that's simply why.

The Earth has known COUNTLESS global warming and froze. Don't you worry about the planet please! The only victims will be humans, tell me, you own an electric car do you ? If not you have absolutely to lesson to give.

"Extreme weather" can be found at any century. For example in Paris in the early 1900s the weather was so messed up the trees still had leafs in January. Anomalies happen.

People, are you reading the signs? Climate change is upon us. Are you prepared? Do you know how to grow your own food? Do you have alternative ways to cook or stay warm and/or dry? Do you have a plan of where to hook up with your family in the event of a disaster in your town? Do you have a way to stay in touch with the news updates? Candles? Extra food? Get yourself in position - just in case. And for all you who are calling this global warming crank it up a notch to climate change.

I'm way ahead of you. I have stockpiled 10 years worth of food, 10,000 gallons of gasoline, have 2 rooms full of toiletries and medical supplies. I have placed a 500 ft long pipe that leads to a water reservoir below and have a water purification system in place. I have built a power-generating system that runs on water. I've turned my backyard into a self-sustaining garden. To protect myself I turned my house into an impenetrable bunker with walls 5 ft thick. Just in case I get attacked, I have a huge assortment of weapons from handguns to a gattling guns with nearly infinite rounds for each weapon.

I can't believe some of you people, if you can call yourself that! You would sure want your share of compassion, understanding and here's a new word for you... RESPECT should anything ever happen to you or to your community! These people, just like many who have endured flood, storm and tornadic events (that's a tornado for those of you who still write with a crayon), or any other natural event. It's called a tragedy! I would expect this from my son at the age of 4 who still has to be reminded not to chew with his mouth open so others don't have to witness the half masticated mess rolling around his lips, but that's to be expected at that age. So, with that it's time to stop amusing yourself at local accident scenes and other sad events such as this and put your big boy pants on and show the world you have an ounce of decency, respect and compassion for your fellow human being. For those of you that this would apply to, you might even want to say a little prayer for another human being attempting to make their way through this societal civilized world which here we would like to consider a democracy. Those who do not believe can simply say that's truly sad and a well wish and hope that nobody was hurt or killed. Even at 4 my son understands and verbalizes that rudimentary emotion. Ciao

Bill, Bill, Bill, Have you learned nothing from the internet? It's full of trolls and weasels who lack compassion, sympathy, and empathy, for other human beings. Be not afraid or worried for they shall eventually get their comeuppance. Disaster will strike and then they shall be wailing, crying, and begging for help from the community.

Many people say that you cannot judge people by their internet facade. I say you absolutely can judge them. For how you act or react when anonymous shows your true being. Unfortunately, many people from all over the world are heartless and cruel when nobody is watching. See people it's not how you act in public when all eyes are upon you that reflects your true self. It's how you act in private when YOU are the only one watching that reflects your true self.

If I read a book that says I'm going to die based on an ancient Mayan calander, does that mean its going to happen? If I read a book that says there is only one way to paradise and that is to take all non-believers out in a hail of bullets or explosions, does that mean I'm still going to paradise?

Please...I have never believed in your god, his god, her god or any god. But, I will say, that if this supposed "Rapture" does come, this world will be a lot better off. I say this because then there will be no religions fighting for who's right or wrong. No religions saying do this, not that. No religions saying if you don't do it my way, the pain and agony for eternity awaits. No religion telling me money is the root of all evil, and then begging for it on Sunday mornings. No religion that kills its women for any indiscretion they deem scandalous. No religion that says no out of wedlock sex or man-on-man sex, but then their leaders rape children of the same sex, and that is somehow justifiable.

Nope. Just like minded folks will be left. And you know what? We will probably all get along.
