An Indian policeman chases away Shiite Muslims trying to participate in a religious Muharram procession on Dec. 4, in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir, India. Hundreds of Shiite Muslim mourners were detained by the Indian police as they tried to take part in the procession. Muslims all over the world mourn during Muharram, the first month of Islamic lunar calendar, the slaying of Imam Hussain, grandson of the Prophet Mohammed who was assassinated by his political rivals along with 72 companions in 680 AD in Iran. Shiite Muslims mourn by flagellating themselves with knives and swords. India has banned any processions and similar public gatherings in Kashmir after a rebellion against Indian rule broke out in 1989.
The purple substance on the ground is colored water that police sprayed at mourners with a water cannon. The same tactic was used by Ugandan police against protesters in May and can be seen in this PhotoBlog post.

we have a president with the middle name Hussain, his father was a muslim, he was born a muslim, his dad must be really pissed off to shame his family like that? I thought muslims hate americans,they swear to kill all who are not muslin,even if they lie cheat steal and kill,what ever it takes even getting one of theirs elected president of the United States to destroy our counyry from the inside,like spending all our money on anything that will not produce any income but waste all the money he can,sounds like a plan to me.

Divide and conquer - it is a simple war time tactic. Divide your enemy and they will topple. We don't have to look very far to find the enemy within. If we as a nation do not stand together, behind whatever leader, during good times and bad; our enemies will surely win without ever raising a hand. One nation, under God (by whatever name), indivisible, and justice for all.
