On the death of Kim Song Il, with the world on edge, I have a proposal.
President Obama should appoint Michael Jordan as a representative to attend the funeral. Sounds crazy, but, both father and son idolize him. This is evident in that they have the entire collection of games that Jordan played in. It would be a gesture of openness on our part with little government investment. It would give Kim Jong Un credibility in a fashion.
It might be a way of jump starting negotiations on Food Aid talks, that have been suspended.
As crazy as this may sound: Remember what ping-pong did for U.S.-China relations?
perfect!
