Dusting of snow atop Mauna Kea brings white Christmas to Hawaii

A monkey pod tree in Hilo, Hawaii, frames a snow capped Mauna Kea mountain, like a Christmas wreath on Saturday Dec. 24, 2011, bringing a white Christmas to the Big Island. After a dusting of snow overnight, officials at the University of Hawaii's Mauna Kea Weather Center reported areas of patchy snow on the upper elevations of Mauna Kea.
