Baby to Obama in Hawaii: I've got to hand it to you

Kent Nishimura / Pool / EPA

Eight month old Cooper Wall Wagner sticks his fingers in President Barack Obama's mouth as he poses for a picture with Cooper's parents Greg, right, and Meredith Wagner in Kaneohe, Hawaii, Dec. 25. The President and Mrs. Obama made their annual trip to greet current and retired members of the US military and their families and ate a Christmas Day meal in the Anderson Hall mess hall at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

I think this one most definitely tops the 'screaming on Santa's knee' picture as far as childhood Christmas images go. I love it that the dad is completely oblivious to what is going on next to him...totally classic.

Read more about the Obamas' stay in Hawaii.

Isn't that cute, OBama trying to pretend like he likes white people. Truth is, his policies show he believes that little white baby has a debt to repay for black babies born today.

I was expecting to hear somethng like this. There are individuals like gregorian who will continue to perpetuate racism. This is their stronghold. The good case is he, and those who have been trying to fuel the fire, are losing.

You who answer gregorino in the negative are all wrong. Yes, O has a white mother, but he never acknowledges her, only his black worthless father. Everything gregorino says is right on accurate and you just cannot admit your error in electing this idiot.

    #1.6 - Mon Dec 26, 2011 6:46 PM EST

he acknowledges his mother and what she did for him constantly. but, you, like gregorian have a selective hearing problem. Whose family do you think they spent Christmas with you moron... you and gregorian, birds of a feather. POS extraordinaire. Not to mention a failure to be cognizant of real life.

Pretty sick comment, gregorian10. President Obama was raised by "white people" so the pretention lies on your side of the fence. He doesn't like them, he loves them. If that isn't obvious then you might be blinded by the interior life that you lead that would bring forth such a comment.

affirmative-action loving SC judges, racist head of the DOJ, tucking in affirmatice action policies into every one of his major "accomplishments" like the health care boondoggle, his wife's ignorant comments, his own talking about what he called "typical white" people, class warfare. His entire DOJ is aimed at getting back at whitey and not prosecuting the black panthers. I stand by my comment. Only libtards and the naive can't see it. Have a nice day.

What in the world are you talking about?!. Your comment is very hateful. If you ever had a negative experience do not take it out on entire races. A black man who was raised by loving white family a racist..really? how is the world ever going to heal with folks like you I do not know. Lets try and think of positive things like our troops coming home, being thankful for family and living in this great country. Merry Christmas to all and peace on earth..

Probably saying things to get other people's ire up. You sound very unhappy here in America, move to another country that has what you want... or, stop complaining and stirring up controversy.

Well said, papag. I used to crack up whenever I watched the last president (who gave tax breaks to the wealthy and therefore gave all middle class American children a future debt to pay off) freak out when he was around kids. His discomfort and confusion when around kids was palpable. This president has the self-confidence and wisdom to be perfectly comfortable around them.

Obama could have waited on his HC bill until he had made some progress on the economy but otherwise it is the GOP who have completely intentionally starved this country of jobs and further harmed the people in order to win an election when they could have worked with the potus.

Anyone who votes for one of the bozos who is running for the GOP potus will be rewarding the GOP for their horrible, selfish and just downright evil behavior.

I'll take a POTUS with a brain over a POS without one, that's why the book "Bush's Brain" was written; he used other POS's brains to almost bring down this nation. But, you and gregorian without a brain, merely spout the rhetoric you hear, you don't research history, or the present. You have no weight in this thread, just more Corn-fed BS!

The breed I am talking about is the older, down south, midwestern, good ole' boy. The old bigots in the middle of the country that are still so uneducated that they don't realize that they are voting for the party that supports corporations and the wealthiest Americans at the loss of the poor, which they generally are members of. The breed I am talking about votes on religious values and at the same time loves to quote our founding fathers......just not the lines about keeping religion out of politics. Your being young says nothing about the future generation other than that unfortunately some of them are brainwashed beyond repair by their parents. If you don't realize or don't want to realize that the majority of young Americans are liberal Democrats, while the majority of the oldest Americans who are naturally dying every day are Republicans, then you have one rude awakening coming in the next decade. It took the Great Recession to save Republicans for a few years this time, what will save you next time?

You are stereotyping a whole segment of the country. And it is obvious by your statement that you have bought the Democratic mantra hook, line and sinker about the wealthy/corporations succeeding off the backs of the poor. Someone else being rich does not make you poor moron. And, news flash: The elderly segment is the fastest growing proportion of the US population. People always tend to be more Democratic when they are in their early twenties; it is only after they've gone out and had a job and gotten some real life experience that they become Republicans. It is nothing new, as you try to say with your "dying breed" comment. Half of Americans don't pay any taxes-- and many of those get basically paid by the wealthy to live here, through food stamps, welfare, Section 8 housing, medicaid, etc. Your vaunted leader Obama is himself a member of the top 1%-- probably the top one tenth of 1%. His campaign has received more Wall Street donations than any other president in American history. And it was the Democratic Congress that voted for the bailouts of Wall Street, which Obama enthusiastically supported. So, cut the crap and learn. The Democratic base relies on you uneducated, uninformed, fools.

I'm a southerner and live in Alabama. I've lived in the mid-west and on the west coast too. I find it highly ironic that the southeast, which has the lowest education in the country and the highest church attendance, is the reliable bastion of the GOP. It doesn't take a genius to figure that little riddle out now does it... Just for the record the southeast has the highest number of divorces and illegitimate children born to teenagers. Welcome to GOP central!

Fortunately, my son and other children his age (21 as of Jan 2) are waking up and realizing that those old ways of thinking are not applicable anymore.

Instead of pointing out the political flaws in this man's policies, you habitually stay stuck on stupid by making ugly statements about a perfectly innocent photo. Did the 2008 elections teach your ass anything? Idiots like you and the GOP ( inverted satanic stars on the elephant and all) will never learn.

Yeah, yeah, the GOP is satan. We've heard it all before. It's same type thing that Muslims in the middle east say about the US. Imagine that, someone decrying "racism" propagating hate. Hypocrite. Just remember:

              1) Obama is a member of the top 1/10th or 1% 2) Rich people pay for others' food stamps, Section 8 housing and welfare 3) Obama has received more Wall Stree donations than any other president in history 4) Obama pushed for the Wall Street bailouts back in 2008/2009. 5) Somebody else being rich doesn't make you poor. If you are poor, it is of your own doing/undoing. 6) Hate is hate period, whether it is directed at someone based on race, based on income, based on age, etc. None is more legitimate than the other. 7) The race card is the first and last resort of the Democratic party. No better way than to tear the message apart right from the beginning than to ascribe discrediting labels to the bearer of the message right from the start.

              1) The President worked and studied his way into the top 1% - he wasn't born into it. This is the American Dream we all aspire to. And even he says he should pay more taxes. 2). The biggest benefactors of food stamps, Sec 8 and public welfare live in GOP states. Blue states pay out more in taxes than they receive in public aid. Go figure. 4). In 2008 Obama received more donations in general from all corporations and public then any candidate in history. Disappointed with his disloyalty to the them, Wall Street has already declared they won't be donating to his campaign this time around because he didn't and won't play their game. 5). It's not about rich vs poor; never before in this country's history has there been such a large gap between those who are born into wealth and those who are born into poverty. The opportunity for success and advancement for the middle class has been squashed by layoffs, foreclosures, college loan debt etc. 6). Hate is hate. But hate motivated by color and fear is the most destructive. The implosion of the GOP just proves it.

And fyi gregorian10, Hispanics are the fastest growing demographic in the US. And or the first tie ever, non-white babies outnumber white babies being born in America. Old white people may still be the largest group of Americans today, but they vote with their social security and Medicare cards. The GOP as they exist today should change their mascot to the dinosaur; their extinction is inevitable.

Let's leave the politics aside and analyze the comments made regarding Obama's hatred for the White People (he was raised by White mother and grandparents). The person who made the comments must hate his/her mother and grandparents. It is called PROJECTION in psycho-therapy. I have lived, witnessed as well as experienced the bigotry for over 20 years ---- it is not human. People who hate Obama claim that they hate him because of his policies. The truth is their hatred is rooted from the fact that Obama is BLACK (birthers???). The truth is very painful, isn't it ????? They are either too coward or too ignorant to recognize where the truth lies.

The President KNOWS he is in the 1% - that's what he says in every speech where he begs the Republicans to raise the tax on HIM as well as others in the 1%.

I lived in the south when I was a girl - moved there from the midwest - and have still not gotten over seeing white and "colored" water fountains in the biggest department store in downtown Houston. It breaks my heart that there are so many who would put them back into use.

Cooper, you will have QUITE the story to tell when you get older. And I like the way the President just went with it - no reaching up to remove the hand; just grinning. That's my guy!
